I want to thank everyone involved in this and giving their opinions of how they see the rules should be set for the filming of Trad V WFP....

You have all offered great ideas and differ a tad on some aspects.

In the interest of fairness please vote for which you feel the rules should be regards what the trad and wfp will be required to do side by side. The houses will be side by side with the same windows and the clock will start in the van and end back in the van.

I reckon you should definately use a ladder footing device Lee as recommended by the HSE.

OK HSE does recommend it but is it realistic as most window cleaners using ladders do not use an LSD... even tho setting it up might only slow you down a fraction?? What do you think

Alternatives may be there but I would want to vote for 2 options but cant, I would expect the job to be done properly by whoever, IE Clean the glass and the frame.
But I would also expect it to be done safely, IE use a ladder safety device.
I am not able to vote for both.

Besides why would anyone want a competition to tell us what 95% of window cleaners already know, which is why we all ditched the trad gear years ago in favor of a safer, easier and more profitable option. Personally Lee I think your wasting your time mate.

They more than "recommend" it, it is required by law if not tethering or footing.

Trad & WFP both frames & glass.

Because clean windows really is the gold standard. We are window cleaners, not glass cleaners. Besides, when using wfp it's very quick to clean the frames when you are at it.

But then again, are we talking about a maintenance clean or first clean? 4 weekly, or 6 or 8?

Definitely a safety device on the bottom of the ladder.

To be honest Lee, I've thought of doing this myself, but thought to myself why waste the time.

WFP is better, faster, safer, even with basic van mount gear. Trad really doesn't stand even half a chance. Trad is handy just for the insides, and a few shop windows, but that's where it usually stops.

Thats right Nick. But how many work to the law - so the question is do we make the film realistic?

The film would act as good visual reference and the Window Cleaning Magazine has loads of time for stuff like this. Partly because its fun, partly because it may be definitive or not and partly maybe because it would cater for curiosity and general information and partly because no one has done it with input from the window cleaning community

The thing is Lee, you have to be shown to be following the Health & Safety regulations.
It's a bit like a tv programme testing a new vehicle on the road but the presenter behind the wheel is not wearing a seat belt.
Basically you have to show you are doing the right thing.
If the ladder cleaner was to fall while you are making the video you could possibly be held accountable.
