Chicago Squeegees
« on: March 30, 2013, 11:12:40 am »
A couple of Chicago Squeegees from my collection. These are circa 1920-30. The bigger one is made by J R Racenstein who are now the biggest seller of window cleaning supplies in America. They both have two rubbers & are very heavy. The handles have been forged & not pressed which shows how old they are. Why they are called Chicago squeegees nobody knows. The bigger one was very dirty black when  I acquired  it & I could not resist polishing it up.

I think the rubber needs replacing.

Seriously though, I find it strange to think that someone was doing the same job way back then in what was, up untill about 10/12 years ago, exactly the same way as all window cleaners.

Sod undoing all those screws and then doing them up to replace the rubber.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.
