Why not build your own system (its very easy) then go on a big holiday with all the money you've saved.
Some of the prices you have been quoted are ridiculous imo. 

Basically, I've got no practical skills.


You hardly need any but it can seem daunting, why not buy a diy system from pure freedom and get a local mechanic to install it?
More expensive than DIY but still much cheaper than anything your looking at.

Just as an idea you could harvest rainwater running it through a di, this would mean that your soak away garden wasn't working as hard, and if there is no rain have a small RO unit as back up, obviously it wouldn't matter about the RO soaking away if there hasn't been any rain.

I hear a lot of good things on here about Pure Freedom and Grippatank.  Grippatank is crash tested and the SLX is a brilliant pole. Your pole is probably one of the most important decisions, as if you get it wrong you are throwing money away and causing yourself injury at the same time.

Whatever system you have with whatever guarantees, you will need to get hands on with it, so you will need to learn DIY otherwise you will find yourself up the creek without a paddle. Things do break down, but can often be fixed easily with just a few tools and replacement parts.

Would it be complicated to set up a rainwater harvesting system?  I would need to divert the downpipe from the garage roof, into an IBC in the garage.  What happens if the rainwater tank gets full?  How would I run the rainwater through the RO, doesn't it need high pressure?  Would I need a separate tank for the pure?  Sounds complicated.

You could consider installing a 4040 in your van and top up your tank when at customers houses if waste water is an issue.

You could also consider letting your waste just run-off somewhere and it'll end up in the road. With no mains drainage at least you havent got that cost to worry yourself with.

I had hoped to make the pure at home, and not need to faff about at customers houses if possible.

Unfortunately the road is higher than my garden, so it will just run back 

I could let it run off in the field at the back of the house, but it's a good 100ft or more from where the van will be.

I have to pump my water round from the back of my house which is the middle house in a terrace. So, out my back garden, round my neighbours place, down the alley and out into the road where the van is parked.

All you'll need is 30-40 metres of 1/2" hose laid down the garden and leave it there permanently.

They quoted for one of those - Came to £4k with a Grafter pole, split charger, hose and reel and extra pump/controller for backup

Pure2o have set prices, which is no doubt what you were quoted, but they also have a price promise and will beat any other quote.  I myself am thinking of going pure2o.

Hi 

I've finally decided to go WFP, and I have contacted various companies for quotes.

I think I want a fully fitted van system, with a trolley as back-up for use on certain jobs.

I've contacted Brodex, Ionic, K Systems, Pure Freedom and Grippatank.

I live near Oxford/Milton Keynes and can't seem to find anyone closer to me than Ionic at Swindon.

I have no mains drainage, so waste water is a BIG concern (unless I pay to have a large soakaway put in the garden  )

Anyway, here are my findings so far, can anyone offer any advice please;

Brodex have been helpful and have quoted £2800 for the following;

E500RO Van Mounted pure water cleaning machine
Installation at Brodex
Security Manifold under bumper or side of van
Steel Hose Reels with 100m 8mm Hose
Battery pack with split relay
HA18 – 18ft Hydra Alloy poles complete with Trigger

They also offer a 50l trolley, but it seems massive and probably too heavy (85KG when filled  )

Ionic said the most suitable system for me is the Pro6 system, because they said it is an 80/20 system so the reject water will be low.

Other people have said that it isn't an 80/20 system, so is it just sales talk?

They basically want £5,000 without a trolley.

K Systems have had very good communications, but I am wary because of some of the stuff I've read on here about them. They've offered the following;

Pure Freedom were very helpful, but they only suggested an IBC setup in the garage and a trolley - total cost around £1600

Grippatank want around £3500 for a 400l 1 man system with SLX pole - I think that includes fitting at home (I'm waiting an answer on a few things).

I don't want hassle, and I don't fancy DIY.  Ideally I want a warranty (if it's worth it).  I would drive to Grimsby/Liverpool etc if necessary but it's not ideal, and I'd be concerned how convenient it will be for ongoing problems

I'm a one man band only working 5 hours trad a day - not looking to expand.

I can't really dump hundreds of litres of waste on my garden each day, so that's a big consideration for me.

I was tempted by the 80/20 promise that Ionic gave, but if that is just pushing a normal 50/50 system beyond it's normal limits, then I can't really justify the cost (it's by far the most expensive system I've looked at).

Sorry if my understanding of WFP isn't quite there yet, I'm new to this.  I've deliberately not mentioned any contact names from each of the companies.

I'd really appreciate any help, as I'm looking to make a decision within the next week or so.

Pure20 are still advertising the price match , I got quotes from brodex and grippa and after a few weeks if emails got the deal I mentioned earlier.

I would knock off the pole and get gardiners instead and I run my system from van battery and its never gone flat .

I've had dealings with pure freedom for a few years now and can't fault them
The system they fitted for me last summer has not given me any problems
I, like most on here would recommend Gardiner poles and brushes
Just a thought but there must be some one local who wouldn't mind you setting up a static tank in their garage in exchange for free window cleaning and maybe a contribution towards the water bill

You could always use a DI only system. Expensive on resin but you have no waste water to worry about. What is the tds of your water?

Re. pole for domestic I find a 22 foot pole ideal. There is the Phoenix or Gardiner range, suggest the full carbon version - e.g. slx22. These have a short collapsed length. My favorite brush currently is the Gardiner flocked sl standard splay, as it scrubs better than their other brushes IMO.

Although a hard water area, I wonder if rainwater harvesting supplemented by tap water when needed is the way to go.  Would be a bit expensive on resin during dry periods but no waste with a resin only setup.

My pro 6 is most definitely 20% waste water.
You might struggle to get any of the pro series as they are beining replaced with the ppb Zero and the ppm Zero.
You will get the new K4 that replaces all the old pro series for around 4K.
