I bought a fiat doblo one month ago and proved pretty good so far. I carry a 350 tank. Could go slightly bigger but I need space in the back to carry other things. So far economical even fully loaded.

im thinking of a ford connect 230 LWB for my next van as it has a payload of 900kg so i should be able to fit a 500L tank in a frame bolted through the van floor.

the guys at my local garage say connects are really good vans and they dont rate the doblos at all!!although some guys have had no problems with the newer ones on here.they are also cheaper to buy.

you wont get much for 2 grand if your after a connect van.
price higher/work harder!

depends somewhat on your tank size.

ive said peugeot bipper a few times on here 605KG for a tiny van ideal for 1 man but will get 2 at a squeeze I think.

Dave Morris has at least 2 of them.

If I was going for 1 I woulf fit flat tank and box it in and keep reels, buckets etc on top,.

I bought a doblo 1.3 diesel new on a 56 plate; still got it. Only on 35K. Perfect one man van - two tight for two or even a hubby/wife team IMO.

For 5 years it had me and a 400L and averaged about 40mpg on fairly local windy work, 50mpg on a gentle run. I would carry two extra barrels on a "long day".

Then in Sept 2011 I took on Dan the Man and I towed a trailer with 200L for six months.

Now it is our second van with a 200l on board and gutter vac etc.

This model is the 2005/2010 facelift model and has a 736kg payload.

Probs? Very few - starter replaced under warranty at 18 months - jammed door handle at 3 years; water pump at 6 years.

The newest model has a 750kg pr 1000kg option and a wider range of engines.
It's a game of three halves!

Fiat doblo, I've got a 600l tank in mine and it's excellant, mpg is very good about 500 miles per tank (60 litre)

IMO don't waste your money with a battered old van, put the 2 grand down as a deposit on a new van,

Although quite rare, Renault did make a kangoo with a 800+ payload. ;)
