You can buy a solvent upvc cleaner, made by a company called webseal, comes in 1ltr bottles. Smells quite nice as well, very strong! If you have dirty plastic frames, use a little bit of this on a pure white tissue ( no tissue with colour in it for obvious reasons ) wipe over the frames and with a little rub this will bring the plastic back up to brilliant white again, make them look like they have just been installed. The customers will love you, and if you wipe the frames down from then on, they will stay like that for a long while. I even use the same stuff to get sticky and ground in marks off the glass. On Brown upvc i use a silicone spray, same thing wipe over the frames to get them to shine, but not on the glass if you can help it. I have on brown upvc used wd40 as this does the same thing, but works out quite expensive. Hope that helps.

Oh yes, the reason why i do not use the same solvent cleaner on the Brown frames is this makes them go white, so do not use that!!!

Hi

I've done a search for Webseal but can't find anything.

Do have any more info on them or know of any company that sells their stuff?

We've a large job coming up soon and they want all the frames whitened.

Cheers and thanks

Thats the product that i use, but there is lots of different ones out there on the market that do the same job. Webseal make silicone mainly, but also do bolt on products, make a very good trade glass cleaner. The place that i buy it from is a small plastic supllier, they supply plastic trims, fascia, soffit, guttering ect. Thats where you will find the sort of stuff for definate! Werth, think thats how you spell it also make it, they do lots of products for the building industry. If your doing a big job, i would recommend using the cleaner on the frames and the glass, but using different pieces of tissue on each. Then when you have cleaned the glass with the solvent and it is dry, spray with a glass cleaner and buff up. Takes a while, but your customers will be well chuffed, and if your going back to clean the windows in future, will make your job so much easier!!!

Just looked on google, a company called national plastics do one for 3.67 inc vat for one litre bottle. www.nationalplastics.co.uk. This would do one to one and a half houses inc the glass! 14 windows and a few doors, depends on how dirty they really are.

Ask most window fitters and they will tell you that most UPVc Cleaners are White Spirits with added chemicals to make it smell nice, so they can charge you more for it.  Try it.   99p bottle from B & Q then clean your own frames.
(was in the double glazing trade for many years you see)

White spirit will clean UPVc.   It also leaves a very nice shine.

White sprit is too oily and does not get rid of the dirt and grime or imperfections on the glass, and you stink for days!! I also have a windows doors and conservatory business.

Well, you could be right.   I was only in UPVc for 5 years.  Worked for a UPVc panel manufacturer selling to national companies as well as little firms.   This White Spirit tip I was told about by many of the customers.  Still, we stand corrected.

Personally, I would try the 99p version first before spending £4 per litre or whatever "specialist" stuff costs.

No your also right, you can use white sprit, but it is really only good for newly fitted frames. The reason why a lot of window companies use white sprit is for that reason and its cheaper. We dont use it because the customer complains that the smell lingers for days and its not nice. Plus the solvent with a little elbow grease, will remove small scratches!!
