Pole Hose
« on: March 07, 2013, 10:57:19 am »
Hi
Gardiners supplied my poles and pole hose - I know some don't like it but - I need to replace quickly its broken and repaired in two places :( :(
Got a soaking yesterday before I realised where it was coming from!
They are out of stock until end of March.
Anyone know of a good replacement 8mm OD 5mm ID that will fit with the Gadiners push fit control tap?

thanks

Try John Hewitt at extend2wash I got some off him never had a problem.
I use push fittings to connect to the brush so it should be ok.

Duh - I didn't know at the time obviously.
I ordered after spending an hour or so trawling around the Internet and making some phone calls to find a supply locally with no joy.
Chance has it that I ordered the very item I was advised to after I had ordered it - call it Serendipity.
Don't you ever learn things or is it - being the smarta$$ you are - you obviously know everything there is to know about everything and before it happens?
You having a bad day or something?

Don't forget to get some barbed inserts for the streamline if you use push fit connectors.
I used it for a while but sold it along with my Supermax pole. Can't remember why I didn't buy some more. Aquadapter is the worst I've ever tried to use.

I've only used
Gardiner yellow pole hose and Aquadapter orange pole hose so I'm limited in my experience.

I much prefer the Aquadapter. I like to be able to loop it up to carry and put away, and felt that Gardiner one got tangled up.

Could anyone expand on the qualities of this Streamline Lite 5. What is so good about it?

Which is it more similar to out of the two I've used?

It is worth remembering that, whatever pole hose type you are using, in the winter it can benefit from being conditioned every few weeks to keep it more workable.

To do this fill a bucket with a few kettles of boiling water and then submerge the pole hose into the bucket of water - Leave for a few minutes. Remove from the water and coil carefully into large loops about 50cm wide minimum - Leave overnight. You will find that the hose will be much more malleable and useable when you next use it.

Benefits of streamline lite-5 .

It is like standard microbore in that it has clear pvc hose inner with the yellow been a outerlayer.

It is tough and durable and does'nt kink to much or tie its self in knots like the aquadapter stuff .

If and when it does twist with use it is very very easy to de-tangle and does not become more tangled and bend in half  like aquadapter hose.

Which I think has got worse with use , streamline hose works well in cold so well  in fact that their is very little difference to use in warm or cold weather.

Also very easy to disconnect from Y peice in order to change brush at the moment cant change brush unless I was to cut hose and having boiling water handy not good.

I dont use push fit connectors and have never had a need to . Mike

From what I remember Streamline had a patterned outer and was the complete opposite of aquadapter hose in that it had a soft floppy feel to it and always lay flat on the ground and could be coiled very easily and quickly. I think the floppy feel of it made it feel heavier than it actually was. The reason I stopped using it was the number of barbed inserts I was having to use (connecting the Gardiners way) with all the push fit connectors - about five I think for the quick release systems I like.

Which hose do you use Dave? Currently I favour Ionics orange pole hose, as this does not require using the barbed inserts for the push fit valve. Have never tried Aquadaptor, just Gardiners and Ionics.

I've been using hose from Sureclean for ages now. I did mention to Alex how good it was but he tried some and reckoned it pulled out of the push fit connectors so maybe they've changed it since I bought mine. I don't like using loads of inserts - just seems daft to restrict the flow even more.
Seems hard to find a hose that works with both hot and cold water. Aquadapter seemed the answer but I just couldn't coil the stuff back up or get it to lay flat when running over paths etc
I've never tried anything from Ionics - maybe I should.
Good pole hose and really good microbore seem to be impossible to come by lately, don't know what's going on. Maybe there aren't many manufacturers out there and it all comes from a couple of places only.

Thanks. The orange Ionics hose can be a pain to coil but seems durable, works well with pushfit and overall I can live with it. It is a similar price to the Aqudaptor hose I think.

ive got some had it 18 months but it did not fit the push fit Y. i see the pole hose he has now is 8mm o/d so that should fit the push fit.
