Good nights canvassing. Hit a goldmine
« on: March 05, 2013, 09:54:15 pm »
3 of us picked up 27 jobs in 2 hours. Hit a patch where the window cleaner stopped coming 6 months ago due to retireing, i got hes number from 1 of the new customers and asked him if he would tell me what houses he had but he said he couldnt be arsed even when i offered to pay him a clean for any customer i get from he's old round but he did tell me all the roads to goto where he had lots of work.
At least another 4 days worth of canvassing to do in the area too with the bonus of knowing the roads to concentrate on that he had work on. He was only charging £6 fronts and £10 f+b but we still managed to get £10 fronts and £15 f+b on them due to him not putting them up for 10 odd years and that we explain how its not just the glass that gets cleaned like traditional methods etc.
This is another reason why canvassing beats any other method of customer building... Every once in a while a gold patch can be hit like we found tonight but the only way to find the gold mine is to hunt for it by banging on those doors clearing the way. Best of luck to you all and happy building.  :)

Well done

I have built all my work through canvassing. My best result was 14 in one night just by myself. Obviously through canvassing that area i ended up with 60/70 customers in about 6 weeks.

How many canvassers do you employ?

I used to have a great bloke from the wirral but he retired. He was bringing back at least 6 customers per night 5 days a week all worth £12 a month or more

Great when you hit an area like that hey danny im hoping for 100+ new customers from this patch all nice and compact.
I have only 1 girl who canvasses for me full time (3 eves a week) who i pay £5 per customer and also me as i enjoy going out but tonight i took 1 of my workers along as he needs to earn some extra money for he's holiday coming up. He got 9 in 2 hours which is £45 extra for him on top of hes £64 he earnt for the days cleaning and was over the moon with happyness when we finished. I only got 6 but that was due to me being on the phone to the old cleaner for 40 mins. Michelle got 12 costing me £60. New 4 weekly work total came to £320 with a cost of £105 to canvassers. If only every night was this good!.

My opening line is normal but the 2nd is quite naughty but it works..i say the normal hi do you use a window cleaner etc etc.. for every one who says no i say great my friend was made redundant and started a window cleaning round and we are out gaining him customers so he doesnt have to go down the signing on the dole route. It works a treat and isnt a lie as the lad who does that round for me was made redundant before he was with me.
I get michelle saying she is helping her uncle get more customers for he's round which is simple and to the point and customers warm to her being female especialy the old girls.
The way i get £10 fronts so easy is i say ill do there gutters free once a year if needed which is another reason i target main roads as the gutters stay clean and never get blocked from leaves etc and as of yet in 3 years havnt had any requests to do the gutters so has gone in my favour risking doing gutters for free.
Just a little thinking out of the box goes a long way.

I like the free gutter clean idea might try that.

If you get £18 3 nights a week for a month it adds upto £220 odd of new work do that 12 months a year and you have £2640 a month extra of work making an extra £31k a year. Even regular small results have a massive yearly impact.

Well done Mick, I've never been canvassing.
Perhaps I ought to give it a go and replace some of the scrap work I've got. ;D

Just got off the phone to the old window cleaner again and he said he has done me a list of 280 houses he used to do, if i can get half of them ill be a verey verey happy man. I said ill give him a clean for each 1 i get but he declined and said he was happy to be helping someone else out and to keep hes old customers happy.
Ill see how i go with knocking over the next week and if the results are as good as lastnight ill bung him a bag of sand through he's letterbox with a thank you card as a goodwill gesture
Wish there were more nice guys like him about.
Ill keep posted how i get on with it.
