Webasto buggered
« on: March 05, 2013, 09:01:23 am »
Firstly I can't believe there are no webasto recognised engineers on their website in Swindon.

My heater brought just over 2 years ago. (Jan 2011) has gone kaput.

Took it to Bristol auto electrical last Monday, new burner unit required, so they stripped it out last week and now I'm back having it installed.

Gonna cost the best part of £400 I reckon including parts and labour.

I will not be going down the diesel heated system route ever again, after reading Lee Priors posts that he had 2 shower heaters with gas supplied and fitted for around £300 each.

What a bloody rip off these systems are. £2500  2 years ago, I expected to last me at least 5 years.

Not a happy bunny, rant over

I was considering buying a pure freedom diesel heater, is yours from pure freedom? You don't hear problems about the ionics thermopure which I think is exactly the same except the thermopure has a extra recurculation pump?

If you are going to change to gas don't buy the same as lee pryer has they are poor quality go for the cointra heater they are ten times better

Similar problems mate. Cracking system when it works, but you need to keep the burner cycling and not stop/starting

That's what caused all of my aggro. And I'm £380 lighter as well.

Scrimble it is the 5kw purefreedom one. Never again!

Just cost me £453. If anything else goes wrong with it someone can have it for spares and I'm changing to gas.

£453 to just have your burner changed?? Or was it the burner and tube? Last one i had, burner was about £150 ish, £60 to fit it, only takes 45 mins including the testing and burning off the fuel.  Being 2 years old, you shouldnt need a tube, my 9 kw is nearly 5 yrs old, and i have a new burner every 12-18 months.

Good for you!

Sunshine that is really bad I was considering buying one of them but at the price they cost I would expect it to last ten years at least!

I know, it's an absolute disgrace. Literally about a month out of the 2 year warranty.

Mine was within warranty, about 19 months old.

Websato wouldn't honour the warranty as the burner and other bits that needed doing are all considered as consumables!!

Very naughty, and very very irritating.
