you can take him to small claims for £25 i think, it helps if you have some form of agreement ie emails stating work you were completing for him, he will have to file or pay.

if he disputes he files and you can both go to court and explain your side

that may be the way to go, but as his company was ltd and hes now not i dont think it counts, also i have a lot of personnel stuff going on at the minuite and whilst the money is needed, im needed more for family issues,

George what happened when you went to the solicitors mate? Nothing they can do?

as he was ltd theysaid i could take it further, but would cost me more and still without quarantees,

That's no good is it. Have you spoken to any debt collection companies about it to see if they can do anything about it? Proper ones i mean not ones that just send letters and try and scare you. I know a fella from a past business that i had that specialized in commercial debts....all above board.

i know someone on here whos tried this but didnt get anywhere either

Very strong Comments to put on a forum especially from someone who hides his own contact details.

Not saying what you are saying is true or untrue but in my opinion/experience it might be better to take legal action before stating on an open forum whats happened.

Good luck either way.

We just had one go into Administration for about £1800 >:( - Flackley Ash Hotel - Peasemarsh RYE KENT

nothing to hide rhinoman, i think a few on here know me, however for those that dont

I think you have a couple options here.

1, Take him to small claims court. They cannot make him pay though. The best outcome here would probably be a judgment against his company, if his company is profitable then this will cause him problems.

2, Sell the debt. There are loads of companies out there that will buy the debt. This may be the way to go if you have already given up on receiving any payment, at least you will get something and know he will be getting mithered constantly for payment. Some companies will chase for payment quite "aggressively" if that is what you wanted.

I hope you get this sorted whichever route you choose.

Gutted for you mate. I know what i would do but you aren't me and i'm not you. What was his excuse for not paying by the way?

Im sure that if you take out a claim against him like ronnie said and he does not answer to this claim he can get a ccj against him or or his company. From that it can go to the high court if unpaid. Not 100% on that though

But I know if i was in his position i would hope the people that could help with info would do so to help recover a payment.

It seems its been done to a few others on here too.

It's understandable there's upset when you don't get paid.  I've been knocked by contractors too, but don't please don't go posting their addresses on the interweb.

I'm all for naming and shaming, but no addresses; I don't think that's British.  You can always swap them via e-mails I guess, but just not on the open forum.

If hes LTD the debt will be with the company not him.. i doubt youd get anything from him directly now he is a sole trader. Completely different even though its him. companies go bust all the time and then start up again
