Hot Water Or Aggitation ????
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:07:01 pm »
Hi all well i have done what i never thought i would lol and added HWE to my Dry fusion setup from reading a lot of post i think good agitation is more important than having inline heater ??? or is it not ???. My question is should my next purchase be an Inline Heater i.e the Magma etc or a decent enough Aggitation Machine as reading alot of people use tap hot or even cold so is an inline even needed ???

Thanks Phil.

Agitation. Not that I think heat is unimportant, but agitation is moreso.

It depends on the cleaning solutions you use.
Detergents are usually used in the tank and need hot water. One step cleaning.
Microsplitter types are used as a prespray and need agitation then a plain or acid rinse, this can be hot or with me more often cold.
So you have to decide which route you wish to go down.
A lot of people use a Sebo Duo for agitation but find it a little lightweight- a heavier CRB will pay dividends in time saved.
A pile brush is fine but is hard work, by the time you have done a 4 bed house you will know it.
God must love stupid people---He made so many.

Buy a pile brush for now, agitation machines have only appeared in the last couple of years we done quite well without them. Spend the money on a heater. Don't forget only about 30% of the carpet is traffic area.

http://www.prochem.co.uk/carpet_&_upholstery_cleaning%20brushes.htm Get the Grandi Groomer and carpet pile brush both 18". I got the Groomer for a bargain price from Amtech but can't find them on their site, probably worth a call.

I'd agree with everyone else agitation, I use tap hot water and get on fine.

If I had to choose I would go for aggatation,  I'm a Big believer in making sure the prespray gets to the dirt, a good scrubbing is needed to get the pre-spray  worked into the pile so it has a chance to attack the dirt. If its just sat on he top of the pile it can't do its job

Plus we can tell the client we not only clean the carpet but revitalise the flattened pile.

You need a pile brush for finishing anyway.

Why not use your DF to agitate, rinse with tap hot water then set pile with pile brush.

You can even dry it off. There are products available to offer the same stain protection as your DF system that can be used through an extractor.

You could even heat cure them (if that's important)

I was thinking the same as Jamie.

You have already have agitation with your DF machine. Just buy a brush if you dont already have one.

Phil,
You're missing a trick, use your DF machine for agitation, don't think of the hassle, think of how it looks to the customer, forget the fact that it is a DF machine, that's irrelevant, but sell your service as a 'deeper clean,' something unique to you and stand out from the crowd, not in it!

Phil, the agitation will be quicker (and far more effective) if you use your DF machine.

Hi Phil

I have a carpet brush, a grandi-groomer and a prochem upholstry tool with hose which I would be happy to sell. I brought all of them second hand and havent used them so they are just taking up room on the van.

If you want more info then let me know your email address and I will send you some photos.

Thanks
Greg
