I have done commercials with 15lpm without any problems, but on the other hand I have never used anything else, although I was thinking about going to 21 litre but want to use diesel so want to find an engine that would cope with 21 litre but wouldnt be to big and bulky, it wou;ld have to be a 2 or 3 cylinder...
I have a couple of small diesels in at the minute if your interested chris? would maybe take yours in PX against one aswel mate?

You will get instances especially on Industrial sites where hydrants are hundreds of meters away, then its not so simple. Recently quoted for blocks 3000m2 hydrant over 500m away, price has to adjusted to reflect this - Due to downtime

I am tempted to go for a larger volume m/c's, however on alot of parks we clean, it would look ridiculous - like a river, waste simply not acceptable to the clients.

We run 2 - 20lt/min machines from a twin axle bowser. We never have a problem with the water supply keeping up with our demands, and we usually arrive with only a quarter of a tank.

There is a lot of stop & starting which allows the water supply to catch up, I guess if we stood there and pulled the trigger on both machines without letting go then we would run out of water but this never happens

Kenny cheers for the offer. The diesel ones are too heavy and offer no real advantages to me in terms of performance ...other than fuel consumption. The honda cost £20  a day to run. They are quite,reliable,dont leave oil slicks and you can manoevre them easily.
I only really do grannies patio's so they suit me fine.
A bowser/tank on commercial jobs is the way we go. But around domestic jobs it would mean running pipes across pavements/walkways from the van to the machine/job. That for me is too much of a health and safety issue.

Honda and hosepipe  couple of hundred quid a week ...i'm happy.I'll leave the big guns for the big boys. My willy is big.....

You can leave the hosepipe filling the tank up constantly all day.
While you are working, the water is still going into the tank.
The level will still go down in the tank, but slowly.
You still will want to stop to move stuff about etc a few times anyway.
You dont lose too much time that way.
You dont have to wait until tank is completely full up each time.

The inference in the last statement would be that those that have a bigger set up than you are bragging. You have been offered unbiased assistance, on a question you have posted. It has been looked at from various angles.

Lets look at the statement - I am one of those people that you think are willy waving - I have at least two set ups that will p all over your set up. I think differently to you and because of how you come across on here I would never give you work. Fall on your ar*e, earn your two hundred a week but possibly look a little closer to home as to the reason why (if it is the case) you are where you are.

In ref to the 'Feed' hose would be interesting to know what size dia you guys use. We have two options 50m* 1" dia or std 'garden' hose (which restricts volume from hydrant).
 Considering using a larger dia flat hose, only drawback I can see is it will need to be fully unwound before you use it (think that makes sense!) any ideas / problems thks

Are you having problems with the water keeping up from the hydrant using garden hose?

I only ever use garden hose (1/2") when i use hydrants and i find the flow is more than enough to keep up with my machine.

The large hose does sound like a good idea though, quicker fill times etc.. Although if your close to the hydrant, all that lay flat hose will have to be undone just to get to a hydrant 2 meters away..

Yes...  recent jobs hydrants have been a fair distance away over 150m, two m/cs combined flow over 33litres 800ltr tank we had to wait for water. Really need increased hose dia without having huge reels of hoses. Toying with idea of several reels of 50m and 20m 2" flat hoses plus small links, simply combined together as reqd.
Its not a problem whilst cleaning domestic properties as there is a natural break. Large commercials no need for any breaks quick changes from fsc to turbos, machines run constant. Funny enough just arrived in from a quotation another business park hydrants miles away   crazy. Might be lucky with this one as we may be able to use internal hyd   find out Monday.

Probably need to make a supporting brkt  Try Lee I know he used to rave about them, but I think he has now been converted to a proper machine

Just make sure the quick release are the "3" o ring type.

I thought about a valve, but i remember someone coming on here a while ago, saying they used the valve for this exact reason and it just becomes a pain, hard to turn due to the pressure etc..

If it comes to it, ill use the valve, just trying to think of other ways.

Lee Blastaway has a whirlaway aswell, he has set it up so he can use his kew spiggots on it, its good how he's done it, also i think that jaespray does the same who used to come on here

Ill have to get him to take a pic. problem with whirlaway is the gun slides over the handle. so you cant just use any old gun.

Even though it was knackered, still a nice gesture mate. plus now that ive bought a second machine im going to resurrect your whirlaway again so ot still works out alot cheaper than buyi g a new one! Thanks again!
