wydale tanks
« on: February 18, 2013, 05:48:39 pm »
anyone else think these are rubbish? the baffles are inadequate!

i've fitted a custom 600l tank into my doblo and it has proper baffles in it and the difference is massive to the 350l wydale tank i had before, no more sloshing around in the back and feeling sea sick

Beats me why so many people use Whydale tanks. Baffles not good and it is surely best to have a coloured tank to prevent the build up of algae.

The amount many on here claim to earn why not invest a bit more and get a decent tank?

They are cheap and do the job of holding water if you want a tank that doesn't let the water slosh pay a lot more for a fully baffled tank.

ive just fitted a 350 litr wydale tank in a very heavy steel frame bolted in the back of a berlingo 800 for my son  . filled it up yesterday for a test ride and  i was disapointed at the movement of water, compared to the  2 x 175 litre  tanks i have in my van which are un baffeled , But have 20 baffle balls in each tank as an  after fitting  , these are excellent at stopping any movement of water .
i Would not buy a baffled tank again but use multiples  either the 125 or the 175 litre tanks which are un baffeld and retro fit baffle balls (buy from enduro max) .

Now i am trying to think of a way to retro fit  baffles to this 350 litre tank  what i think i will do is cable tie  2 one litre plant pots together  and squeeze these through the 13 mm opening and fill the tank with these  this should stop the water moving . by the way if you fit a steel frame into a van you are deemed to have modified the vehicle and
consequently the insurance company may have something to say .but if you use say for instance  3x175 litre tanks fitted with these baffle balls  held in place securly you havent modified the vehicle
i think the water movement will be a lot less ,if the tanks are fastened to a bulkhead  by heavy duty rachet straps i think it will be safe or safer than a tank frame
if your relying on what the tank manufacturers are providing you may be in for a shock ???

Recently found out they are not actually baffles as such, they are just holes created to allow the moulds to be held in place during manufacture.

No matter which way you mount your tank, you will have movement either side to side at back to front, ad they are not designed to be used in transit.

Put a load of land drainage tubing in your tank, that will act as baffles.
