Waterfed poling a double decker bus every day.
« on: February 14, 2013, 06:57:18 pm »
Hi guys,

I posted something similar to this a while back,

On that occasion I had to wfp a double decker bus from 1 location just for a couple of days,

This time around,

I have been asked to clean a double decker bus at various sites around the midlands, north west and north wales every day over a period of 3 working weeks.

It is for a good client so I don't want to be over charging, but I certainly don't want to be over charging.

If you were in the situation what would you do? Not cleaning it isn't an option.

Strange one I know, but what are everyones thoughts?

Cheers,

Dean.

How far is this bus going? if in week 3 its gonna be 120 miles away it needs to be factored in, you must be having a wind up anyway  ;D

How dirty is it going to get driving from say stoke to Wolverhampton?

Just allow 1 hour cleaning + travel to and from and put an hourly on it you are happy with?

if you know before hand which areas it is going to be in and on what dates can you not sub it out for areas that would make the job expensive if factoring in travel costs

The thing is you need to know the location of where the vehicle is going to be from day 1 so you can work out travel etc .

Charge the travel rate , charge the hourly rate for cleaning etc its your business you know how much you will be earning on a regular round so factor that into the price .

Yes I know where its going to be, and what times.

Ranging from caernafon in north wales to bradford in yorkshire down to nottingham across to stoke on trent and everywhere in between.

Crazy isn't it. Ha.

What's your daily average at the highest? Charge that for just the travel time. I would imagine this type of job would involve you spending several days at a time driving/doing nothing where otherwise you'd be earning. Add a healthy pence per mile rate on top of that, and any cost of accommodation and such. Then there's the matter of chargin for actually cleaning the bus, it would be a pain, so charge very well. If they want to spend that much money on keeping the bus clean you better price it properly.

i dont reckon its gonna happen that way tim, they are not gonna pay £250-£300 a day to have a bus cleaned!!! prob more like £45 a day i would guess? but as it gets further away travel time is more of a factor...come on Dean spill the beans  ;D
