Get rid of the swivel elbow
And buy a Gardiners 3/4 thread male

This would also work but as you operate the reel you are then spinning the fittings on the O ring all of the time. This will lead in time to the O ring wearing and this would lead to leaks, whilst the O rings are only 45p to replace most would rather avoid this happening.

Na mate, only cold. Why? Would there be an issue if I used hot?

Might try a hozelock. My brass one leaks until pressure is built and I have to work around it. Life would be easier if it didn't leak, but durability would be an issue I'd think.

I use a hozelock pro male, a brass female and a little vaseline. No leaks.

The brass female has ball bearings in it to run smoother so won't wear as quick.

Is durability an issue because your reel is not van mounted ?
I use a £1 B&Q female hoselock onto a brass swivel and a metal reel bolted to floor, always pressured up and ready to use and no leaks whatsoever.
Suppose durability would only be an issue if you were constantly connecting and disconnecting.

I have a trolley as a van mount, so need to remove trolley to charge as I don't have a drive to tun a wire out. Your point is right though.

going hot usually shows all the weaknesses in the plumbing, just asking if any one uses the brass elbow joints with hot and do they work with hot..? if so will order one.
