Hi

I used to run large branches of W.H.Smith. This practice is against all rules of Newspaper and Magazine distribution as Advertisers pay Publishers for the inserts in the Magazine.

I only used to have cheeky people occasionally Usually people who ran Slimming Clubs ,

From personal experience I think its a bad idea. Many years ago I was out leafleting with my brother and decided to put some leaflets under car winscreen wipers on the drives to save time. turned out to be a bad idea, as when I got home i had a very angry man phone up and complain that the people who distribute my leaflets had violated his car by placing a leaflet under the winscreen wiper! The guy was really outraged and said car could have been damaged. I said sorry and would speak to leaflet people and get them to stop doing it. He was so annoyed I wasn't going to say it was me put it there on his old banger.

I have often wondered about these in UK as most doors do not have handles , but thinking as I type perhaps you could hang the om letter box.

On BBC 2 last night there was a programme called the Fixer where Guru Alex Poliski from Hotel Inspector Fame helps stuggling companies

This week she was helping a potrait Studio. with 3 customers a week . average sale £150
She had them out on the street handing out flyers to drum up trade.
And calling 20 potential Commercial Clients a day to get them interested.

good point Ian.

In Edinburgh there are tons of people handing out leaflets for various events/promos etc specialy when the festival is on. And you rarely see them scattered on the floor. I think most people have more respect than to chuck them on the floor. I'd like to see the council trying to give someone a litter bill for handing out flyers or putting them on cars lol

If you do this in Bridgend Mid-Glam, the council will fine you for fly tipping; a friend of mine had a fine,  by the way Tony that carpet cleaning machine I bought from you is working fine.

I think you will find if you really wanted to hand out leaflets the local Council is obliged to supply a permit  they might charge.

In Edinburgh so much of the economy is built on culture events the Council would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did not allow it. From Carpet Cleaning or Window Blind point of view  the difficulty would be  identifying the locals. But as I said before it was the only Marketing World Book ever did and it worked right across UK, Brittannia use to use a similiar method  but with prize draws  in shops etc  Do not as response rates as its all about having attractive girls on the street handing out simple cards all day long and depends on product or YES SERVICE ::)roll ::)roll
