Help required please!!
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:45:03 am »
Can anybody help ??

Daily office cleaning
Pretigious buildings

High profile company

The site houses 500 people across two buildings  with a total of 150,000 sq feet of office space

One building houses 170 people the other 330 both over 2 floors

What I need is a formula for the ratio of cleaners required to either staff levels or square footage ( not how I normally quote )

I also need an approximate consumable usage ( toilet rolls etc) per person per annum.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Simon

Blimey.

That's a bit harsh.

I thought saying "all help would be greatly appreciated" was fine, personally.

Hey ho, another day, another forum . ...  ::)

Hi Simon

I have put a spreadsheet on our website that you can download and use for your productivity rates. They are open to some personal interpretation (and you can adjust them) but if you are competing for contracts of this size, these are the rates that you should aim for to be competitive.

On the spreadsheet you should enter info into the columns labeled

Floor size (accurate)
Cleans per day
Days per week

You can also enter a variation to the productivity rate in the column marked (funnily enough)

Variation to productivity rate.

This would be to allow for high or low density useage.

When putting in the floor size you should put the TOTAL floor area for that 'type' .

At the end it will give you the hours per week for the whole building.

It's not what I would use for smaller contracts but for bigger ones it's a must.

I could have just emailed it to you but I've made it 'downloadable' as I KNOW I'm going to get asked for this a million times.

Good luck

On the subject of productivity rates and 'square meterage'....................

Many years ago in the early 80's I was out learning to 'sell' cleaning with a guy who went on to become the Chairman of one of the BIG nationals.

I was always flabbergasted to find that almost every site we went to he could calculate the square meterage accurately without a tape measure or even pacing it out.

I begged him to tell me how he did it and he left me stewing for weeks.

Eventually he told me and I've never forgotten it to this day.............

I can now walk into a large open plan office area (and many other types of area too) and 99% of the time I can tell you EXACTLY what it measures.

A big slap on the back for the first person who can tell me what this guy taught me...... :D :D :D

A similar office in Derby (just got the info from a colleague) has had 351,672 metres of toilet roll in the past 12 months.

They have 500 occupants too.

The product doesn't matter, it's the amount that matters.

That works out at 1.9 metres per person per day  ;D

When we used to quote office cleaning jobs in London, most buildings
have a book at reception for the cleaners to sign in and out of work.

If you look in the cleaners  book it will tell you how many cleaners and how many
hours they work. This will give you an idea of what the cutomer is paying

Hi Chris

I would say not this particular organisation required an awfull lot of information

Normally for this size of contract it would be about half of that

Simon

That's actually a small one.

I once quoted for the London School Of Economics. The tender docs came back looking like 4 telephone directories!!!

I agree Public sector tenders are like that I still have a couple you could use as wheel chocks on a 747 ;D
This one was particularly involved though for the private sector and I was only tendering for one section out of four

CMS - I have been reading your replies to Simon and I think your 1 hell of a nice guy!    You really go out of your way to help people here.  Sometimes we're not told how good we are.......we sometimes point out the negatives.   I'm pointing out the good here.   Your a credit to CIU.    *applaudes*

Simon - GOOD LUCK on the tender hun.    94 pages,  would have gone in the bin in this house!   I like everything user friendly now.

Also, I posted a question in GENERAL Cleaning section on "between Tenant" cleaning.   Any help would be gratefully received.  Thank You
