Bad attitude to work
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:16:15 pm »
Was chatting to a Windie out side a church hall which I've had my I eye on, and he was bragging to me that he charges £40 to clean the windows of the hall, but he never does all of them or some months doesn't even do them and they still pay him, he was really pleased with him self  ( I'm just thinking scum bag ) me personally couldn't do this, has anyone else seen or heard of people doing things like this and getting away with it

I believe this is how big / national companies operate ... That's how they price low maybe as they only do half a job if they even do that ... Then if someone complains they'll just make sure they do the lot next visit ... Then go back to doing next to nothing again... tender low to secure the contract then get away with doing as little as possible

We used to clean quite a large nursing home. Took 2 of us 5 hours and that was at a good pace with no break. It's cleaned by a national now, 2 men 1.5 hours. (I know because my mrs is friends with the office manager).

They probably clean a quarter of the glass on the building AT MOST.  They also charge less than half of what we did.

Who is offering the best value for money in this situation?

The person who made the decision to switch is unlikely to ever even see the windows. There will be some agreement somewhere that states that the windows should be cleaned periodically. As far as they are concerned that is what is happening, and at less than half price.

They are still getting ripped off though as they are not receiving the service they are paying for. Unless the contract specifies that only 1 quarter of the windows will be cleaned each month. Not likely though is it.

I agree with you. I lost a huge (well huge for me) contract to a 'national' who are doing precisely that.
