Never clean a caravan with a pressure washer!

I say this as a Cleaning Contractor and a caravanner.

Pressure washers loosen the mastic in the seams and cause a caravan to leak like a sieve.

That would concern me as any water being forced by pressure can very easily break down the seals allowing damp to get in.
And believe me thats not good i am talking from experience i had to have half of my old caravan rebuilt due to damp.

Don't worry as much on caravans built after around 1998; the mastic used after that date is much better. The clue is "...old caravan rebuilt..."

We use a patio cleaning head on caravans. Just don't spray through the perforated vents in the walls (at the top) as the water will stain the wooden wallboarding inside the caravan.

If the caravan is a "park home" covered in a rough cast finish (a bit like cement render) use low pressure only.

Trust me, I run a caravan park.

Andrew.

Glad to have found this topic.
Hi. I have recently been asked to put a price in to clean some mobile caravans at a caravan site local to us.
Now, after reading the last few replies to this topic I think I will get me hands on some Fenwicks and not use my pressure washer.  Does the bobby dazzler work as well as it says?
The thing is what would you guys say is a good going rate to clean a mobile caravan.  This is for just external cleaning.

If you have any hints or tips or any advice  it would be greatly received.
Many thanks.

Keep busy folks.

Bobby Dazzler is good too!

I would charge £1.50 per foot i.e. 16 foot caravan = £24.00

To do our caravan at home I use Fenwicks to clean it, applied from a bucket with a long extendable brush.

Rinse it off with a hose pipe.

Then I apply the Bobby Dazzler from one of those big 'pump action' garden sprayers.
