Commercial work New
« on: February 04, 2013, 03:36:41 pm »
im not sure weather im going to get any replys on this as were all in competition.

how do you go about obtaining commercial window cleaning contracts? anyone use tendermatch or companys similar? i had a yellow pages ad for a year useless. website with good seo again i knw people with these and they dont pull the huge contracts.

im still hammering hard at the domestic scene with nearly 300 customers on board iv bought another van to get the chap who works with me out on his own so i can realy concentrate on expanding. i can canvass domestic until the cows come home but the commercial scene is going to take a new set of skills i think.

any coments welcome

We're 70% commercial ....

To be fair it's not the big pot of gold everyone thinks it is ... Yes there are some big buildings around to clean that aren't using national companies but a fair few use a 90 day payment return or should I say 90 days before you started having to chase them up every week for a further 2 months...

A few national chains pay us very well on time every time...

I'd try your hand at picking up local community centres etc ... Retirement homes are normally national or regenal now...

Don't think you just get 'that big commercial' job to run a business, if you have a good compact domestic round that is growing I'd stick with that mainly... Sometimes taking on big commercial jobs can cause your business harm mate.

We once did work on a new build uni, we were there for 3 months and didn't get paid for 11 months... We used to do north Bristol nhs - another pain the arse for payment!

then they drop you for someone who has come along for a couple of pound cheaper.

Had a small commercial ring me up about a year ago and we were doing it 40.00 a month very small office and say oh.. we getting it done for 25.00 now we had a quote can you do it for cheaper than that...me no... by then.

So not only do they go and look for a cheaper price.. then ring u up and have to cheek to see if you can go any lower then them  ???

they all work like this i just do not understand how it can work in the end.. if they contastantly want cheaper-cheaper-cheaper prices.. surely everything goes up.. not down. leccy/gas/phone/water bills never go down each year do they  ???
Dave.

Id rather do commercial, better money and one payer instead of chasing 100s.
Im trying to get more commercial this year.i have a new contract ive quoted and will bring a fair quid in every 2 months for 1 weeks work.
Also its good when the weathers no good as nobody complains.
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

i have some commercial work, nearly all of it has been gained through residential work,

i think a solid residential round with a few commercials is good, i have some commercials that i do on a sunday on an industrial estate, i do them out of choice no one is there on a sunday, its good money

some commercials pay more than houses, if they dont then im not sure if there worht the extra hassle
