IPAF Licence - 3 categories - no more than 250 pounds

60ft Cherry picker - weighs in at only 3.5 Tons - hire self drive or get one delivered - lots out there - we just ordered two different types and saved over 300 pounds by shopping around

You need your IPAF as mentioned. You also are better off getting hired in plant insurance, otherwise a lot of companies charge for their own, which is expensive. If it is only for one job as a one off, get a company to send an operator too. It will, save you doing the course or getting insurance.  I would do both though. :)

You don't need an Ipaf to hire and use booms and scissor lifts.

I would thoroughly recommend getting your Ipaf however, if you've never worked with these machines before, they can be quite daunting. The course teaches you about the safety aspect if the machines and you have a practical test so you can gain confidence using them.

Lots of different machines out there, I normally go to the yard and have a play before it gets on site.

You're right. You don't NEED the IPAF to hire. But plant that basket through the M.D's office window and you will be in a heap of trouble for using equipment without training.  ;D

That's right, show him your ipaf when you're smashed through his window, disturbing his "meeting" with the secretary, and updating his Facebook status, and he will be fine with it.  ::)

The ipaf does not make you a safe and responsible operator, just like a driving license doesn't make you a driver.

Quite right. Accidents happen. But your odds are greatly reduced if you have had driving lessons from a qualified instructor rather than just putting yourself behind the wheel of a car thinking youll be able to work out the controls and identify the dangers. Also, are you in more trouble with the Law if you have a car accident with a drivers licence or without one?

60ft is approx 20 metres or so - there are dozens of 3.5 ton self drive hire companies
We use SMART, PG PLATFORMS - BLADE ACCESS and many others
