Only advice I can give you is to keep ringing round the insurance companies to try and get the best quote and policy.
I don't bother with the comparison websites because you have to tell them you have a water tank in the van and then wait for them to get back to you.
It's best to sort it out over the phone in my opinion.
Make sure you tell them about the water tank otherwise insurance is null and void.

A-Plan I drive a 60 plate L200 Trojan with a 400 ltr diy fitted tank £1100 with wfp courtesy van.

They got me insured with Liverpool Victoria . Mike

Is the tank bolted in or fitted with load straps Mike?

[/quote
It is strapped in with ratchet straps across the top from left to right along with dunnage at one side and at rear . Was advised by relative who has worked in transport for over 20yrs in the armed forces. Mike

The reason I asked Mike is because some insurance companies don't class the water tank as a modification if it is "removable" or strapped in.

I think an important factor is weight and also if the tank has any room to move my tank almost fills the entire load bed. So it can only move an inch or so if it were to move

Also a pick up.truck has 2 bulkheads so is far safer than a tank in a van . Mike
