Hi all I will soon be upgrading to a SLX pole for the first time, but not sure, should i change over to Fanjets

or stick with Pencil Jets, which do you feel do a better job, any of your opinions appreciated.

Pencil jets all the way, give better spread on the glass, quicker and saves water,
Fan jets aren't powerful enough to rinse off and larger particular or anything off glass, using more water.

But that's just me!

do you rinse on or off ?

there will be 2 camps here as this is down normally to what people started with.

me personally I prefer pencil jets because I like the acuracy of them over fans which I feel are messy although they sound rather cool)

if you clean a lot of hydraphobic glass (beads up) then fans could be your new best friend.

fans cover a bigger area when rinsing.

it really is down to personal preference nothing more IMO

have you got it wrong way round fans dont use as much water as pencils

I prefer fans,not as powerfully but when cleaning large Payne's of glass (commercial) I find its much quicker.

fans use less and you chould rinse on the glass lifting the top corner of the brush to create a head of water at the top frame, i use both and to be honest rinse on with all of them with perfect results both ways, a lot comes down to the flow rate you use as well, fan jets are better with a higher flow rate ( i dont bother using a controller) as for speed on the glass, i depends on the type of glass but i am slightly faster with fans, however i will use pensils on first cleans - the answer is to buy the red ones from gardiners that will fit into standard holes and try them, if you dont like them they are only about £3, what i did is get a vikan brush and drill the holes for the larger diameter fan jets so i have a brush that has both fans and pensils, i wonder if it would be a good idea to do this on the 4 holed gardner brush and just use two at a time ( i might do this now )

No not got it the wrong way round. Use more water with them as they are not powerful enough and takes longer.

4 jets work better!!! I have got brushes with 4jets just fire this reason, even quicker and good pressure

2mm jets for me, use 400lts on 78 flats. On portable system, 4x2mm jets on brush And used less than 25lts of water on 4 terrace houses,

So every system and user is different.

If you use fans with the brush off the window and there is wind then they are no good at all.
Pencil jets work all the time!

having always used pencil jets this week I have been testing the fan jets as I ordered the wrongs ones  : and tbh altho I dont really like them as they are messy and spray the fecking water everywhere they do seem quicker and IMO they do use less water.
Cant seem to get a decent flow on the glass when rinsing tho so have changed to rinsing on the glass and no complaints so far

this debate runs every time and in experience fans clean better - are not messy and use less water - this works for me
some people cant get on with them - some people think fords are the best cars other vauxhall's

for the cost of them - if your serious about cleaning you should be trying both to see what works for you
( the brass fan jets from  cleaning spot are terrible and avoided at all costs )

Im noy saying i dont like them, just not for regular window cleaning. saying that im gonna give the new gardiner fan jets in mixed extreme brush a go on my "high" work. im going to try rinsing on...still feels wrong though

Is there a correlation between fan or pencil jets and hard or soft rubber?

i prefer fan jets and my daughter,son, Ashley(part timer) they and i have used both and every one goes back to fan jets
i have the new low pressure fans on a Gardiner sill brush the main problem is that they are seated at the top of the brush and are a little awkward to use at first but i dont think about it now.

i find once you have scrubbed the window you spend less time rinsing,i have the pressure set around 40-45 psi and because of the fan jets you are covering more glass when scrubbing and the same when rinsing so tend to clean the area quicker...imo

Hi Ian, I normaly try and rince off the glass, but my current brodex pole being heavy than other pole's its not always

possible at height without doing your arms & shoulders in.
