I did do some pressure washing about three weeks ago...it was fun.The fuse kept blowing in the plug tho' that was a pain.
I find it hard to believe you are allowed to work alone...I would of told them to stick there job. What if a hose burst or something? or
The lift thingy cut out and you are stuck in the sky...you could catch a chill if you were up there all night.

RAMS cover what happens if I am knocked unconscious, if I need assistance to come down, if I am dangling conscious or unconscious from the basket.

It is daytime works and I am burnt, it is boiling down here, been in t shirt all week but then I am a manly man, no Louie Spence here

If you knew the ticket value you definitely would not have told them to stick it

Another reason for working one man in the basket is the split flow.

Two men do not necessarily mean you will do twice the work

2 x 17LPM  or 1 x 35LPM - Give me 35LPM any day of the week and I will show you how fast something can be cleaned!

I would still want my friend there to hold my hand if I was doing that sort of work.
I would be interested to see Your"Rams" that show me how to deal with a unconscious 120kg male 40ft up in a basket . Working within feet of the general public with a 35 lpm 3000 psi pressure washer running....if I am not onsite....and the paperwork is in a locked van .
No wonder I am not cut out for this work.

Can't work Good Friday or over Easter weekend so either Wednesday or Thursday finish but I am back to finish the store entrance road roof on the Tuesday after Easter, hopefully one day and bish bosh.

The MEWP won't move if I am unconscious, unless I keel over with my foot on the pedal and I am still holding onto the joy stick - that probably isn't going to happen.

The RAMS are read, signed and agreed by all parties, with a copy held in the site office and a copy in  my works vehicle.

The pressure washer similarly won't continue to pump out water if my hand is not pressing the trigger. I tend not to drive the MEWP and pressure wash at the same time.

It's not the wild west

There is working alone or there is working with another MEWP within five metres of where I am working.

The principal contractor has read the RAMS, my client has passed the RAMS, my client is working next to where I am working and when he wasn't he was watching me working.

I make decisions to handle the works within the boundaries available, two could not go in the basket, someone else is working nearby and apart from a period working directly over the road (that was watched) I am now within the service yard boundaries, with barriers.

Next week I have assistance but I am glad of your concerns for me.

I don't hold hands with anyone other than my wife Chris.

2000sq/m cladding, canopy and window clean, done in a single day.

Used one of the few HR28s out there, and what a nice machine to use, such a large basket, you can cover a larger area without moving so often.

280kg, so was borderline when I was in it.

Had some issues with the extractor vents, needed some elbow grease.

That's the problem I have when i'm working with someone else. I always blame them though, for being too heavy.

That is a lovely machine, great spec.

It doesn't matter how big the footprint & weight of a machine is when you're 20 metres away from the centre turning point it still feels like it's going to tip over with the slightest movement.

The worst I've experienced was a Hinara 21m spider, that was simply terrifying at maximum elevation and outreach. Genuinely feared for my life on that thing.

My most experienced guy hated it also, at one point he got out of he basket and sat on a ledge, pleading with me to move the machine so it was more stable, but we couldn't.

I think these things are great, if treated with respect.
