We've been looking at Evalon, 19p for debit card and 1.1% for credit, costs £12:50 a month for the machine.

A lot are now moving to machineless systems, either by logging on to the internet to do it or via your mobile phone.

posted here after trying to get a price out of these .... they wouldnt give me a price over the phone but wanted to semd a local sales rep around to "go thru the figures" with me .... said no as too busy just give me the info over the phone .... no sorry cant do that.

I was considering iZettle  no monthly fees just 2.75% per transaction, which I already pay when using Paypal anyway. 
You can type details into your iphone or android manually or pay one off fee of £20 for card reader.

cardsave rang me up cold calling jus before xmas , it was £1 a day machine rental +2% each transaction. i said "WHAT!" thats 30 quid a month ,i wasnt intrested  so he offered 20 quid rental ,or less if id deal now and then asked me to ask my customers if they wanted this service and said he will call in Feb .

I've just done the izettle. The thing that goes in an iPhone 4 is now free.
Paid £1 which they refunded to confirm the bank account just waiting for the gadget to turn up.

Card Save was recommended to me by my bank manager (RBS). They have been brilliant. Maybe not the cheapest but their technical support and customer services are top notch.

I don't do mobile readers so can't really say what they are like. We have a 'virtual terminal' which we integrated into our round software. The guy who did the programming for us could not fault card save's technical support.

Card Save also do 'pay by link' which will allow us to fire off an email automatically from our round software which has a link to pay the bill, once it's paid it will automatically update onto our software. Genius.

This is something I have briefly discussed with the guy who designed it, I would not be comfortable selling it without his OK and I would not be confident in selling it without his support. It is certainly a possibility.

I will be meeting with him in the coming weeks to discuss tweaks / improvements to the software, I will speak to him about it then.

@ Bobplum, you're right. I was prepared to pay the £20 but when I went to pay it said it was free.
Perhaps they only want people who would be prepared to pay rather than a load of people getting it just cause its free?
I don't know. I didn't pay though.
