clx or slx gardners pole
« on: December 27, 2012, 12:19:02 pm »
as the title says , 22ft clx is 117 pound , 22ft slx is 199 pound , just for poles , so is it really worth paying the extra 83 quid for the slx , its my first gardners so im going to be happy with the clx anyway , and i do tend to treat my poles a bit rough , so thinking of just goin for cheaper one as i know this will be excellent anyway , but just like owning a pair of armani jeans , i quite like the idea of turning up at mrs smiths house and unveiling my shiny new S L X , so come on gang stop stuffing your faces with turkey an tell me whats a man to do  ??? ??? ???
the more flyers i post , the luckier i seem to get ...

Slx with carbon gooseneck and the DT extreme brush is the lightest and best set up you will get. Every day cleans fly by, no flex and really really light, no point in paying top money for a pole an sticking a heavy brush on the end

I have 18 clx and 22 slx for everyday use
Clx is great but slx is awesome
Will probably get 18 slx and keep clx as backup
Slx is definatly worth the extra
Thanks,

18 for ever day use

I suppose it depends on your work. I used to have an 18ft + a 30ft pole and on some jobs either have to work with the 18 then swap for just a couple of dorma windows or 3rd floor window for example it would be quite annoying & time consuming OR work with the 30ft for the whole job causing unnessascary fatigue. I personally found since using a 22ft pole it does 100% of this type of job and I now only use the bigger pole where it should be used.
WE CLEAN BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT WITH WATER FED POLE WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT.

If you've not already placed your order ( you can't they're closed, unless you can online and they process it later) its got to be the SLX, lighter, stiffer, especially good with the carbon gooseneck with extreme medium mixed brush. Perrrrrfect.  ;D

I understand that they're super light and super rigid but, and this is my main concern, how robust are they???

I regularly tap windows shut with my brush; some probably get hit a little harder than they should due to being stiff, so would either pole cope with this?

I only ask as I snapped a section of a carbon Ergolite doing the exact same thing.
Come and talk dirty to us!!!

If you have the money for the SLX I would recommend that and not to even look at the CLX.  It's not just a more expensive pole it's a lighter much more rigid pole and should increase the work load that you can do in a day whilst at the same time causing you less strain.  To be honest I think 99% of customers wouldn't be bothered what type of pole you used and if you said that it's a Gardiner pole they'd probably think it was used for trimming trees or something.

Yeah, I use the SLX to shut windows too, it's quite robust. I've had mine 2yrs now and it's still going strong. Regarding shutting windows : if they are very stiff to close, I give up with the slx and carefully clean the glass. In some cases you'll find it's not worth the extra chance  ;D

THIS EXACTLY

if it will not shut with small amount of pressure wash the glass quickly and leave it.
WHY RISK A £300 POLE SETUP FOR A £1 WINDOW ???

i would deffo go for  slx22 & 10" Cf gneck and  ;)medium extreme with fans.

SLX every-time!

As for how robust they are-

I had the original one in daily use for approx 4 years & it suffered some proper abuse. I replaced it with another one before it wore out for good. I use them to close windows, I bend them though Juliet style balconies, I rub them along the edges of felted flat roofs & I clean gutters out with them! NEVER has one even complained let alone broken! ;)

Although I've never done a test, I would imagine the full carbon SLX would last longer than a CLX so in real terms it's no more expensive in monetary terms- the benefits will pay you back 100 fold though. ;)
