Just wondering how far you want to take you company. When I started out I wanted to have loads of vans out. But when I look at all the headackes that will go with it I don't know what I want now. Just wondering what yoyo guys want from window cleaning

this time last year i employed well over 20 full time staff but lost large contract in feb so down to just me and two others, the money was great but i had no personal life and hated the paperwork side i am glad i did it in that it has set me up monetry wise to be comfortable but i dont think i would do it again, i enjoy doing physical work on the tools i have little or no stress and can still make a decent living, i do still like to take on the odd big one off jobs as i like the challenge of tackling something a bit different

When I first started I wanted total world domination.

Since then I have changed my views a little.

Now I want more  ;D

I intend to remain a sole trader. But I will keep on building, refining and developing my run until I have it exactly the way I want it to be.

Currently fine and happy with doing 5 normal houses a day for 4 days a week on average.  Total work day @ 20 per month (ish).

Might have a gander at a backpack if I have a bit of spare dosh in the new year though, could be perfect for of my current jobs.

3 months - have a proper plumbed in ro > di > static tank.  Still working from barrels.

6 months trade in my car for a 7 seater which can handle weight of gear, like a mitsubishi, nought fancy.  Work half from built in tank and half from barrels and trolley.

Oh yeah, and I'm launching a smallish local special offer ad to attract a few newbies to compact the rounds, but have learnt to charge a proper rate for those who just want 1 off's.  And I have absolutely no issue with one off's, very therepeutic and satisfying for me.

Once I've run the 4x4 for a couple of months, I'll take stock and consider renting a little unit and buying a proper van.  Ultimately for now that's about it,; seperate the window cleaning from the home life as much as possible with the exeption of phone calls, I like taking calls whatever the query.

Daft as it may sound but been working hard for last 2 1/2 years actually doing the day to day cleaning to really grow to any size.

As a 1 man band I think its gone as far as it can but took a part timer on in July this year who from next year will be out in van without me so this will free me up to canvass and start pressure washing however will still be cleaning windows for several days a month.

Ideally I would like 3 small vans out on road with single operators whilst I spend my time canvassing / marketing / pressure washing / gutter vaccing  and doing 1st cleans that will then be passed onto the normal vans.

See what 2013 brings  :)
