So having exposed my van and working arrangements I'm thinking about simplifying and having less of a 'faff' transfering water.

There are pro's and con's to each of the three options and maybe I've missed some.

Bear in mind that currently I circulate rather than have 'on demand' hot water.

Option 1
Keep things as they are.
125 holding tank and 8 barrels transfered as needed
Pro's
Barrels removable to create space.
No cost involved
No chance of overfilling as it transfers 25L at a time
Continue to heat a small amount of water at a time
Con's
Not as secure as it could be
Risk running out of water mid job and creating air pockets
Water dribbling in the van

Option 2
350 L flat tank
Pro's
Only one tank to worry about
Can be fitted better than current tank
More room availiable in the van (see diagram at the bottom of this post, they are both the same I seem to have uploaded twice )
Con's
Cost £156 inc vat
Circulating water more of an issue

Option 3
Buy additional 210 L tank
Pro's
Still able to circulate hot water
One tank can be removed if needed.
Con's
Cost £121 inc vat
Same space used up as currently

To be honest Richard that is what I have been thinking about. I only use hot in the winter. I may run it OnDemand tomorrow and see how I get on.

I need to decide by 10am if I am to get the tank pre xmas.

Go for the 350 and use heater as on demand , i cant see why you circ the water , seems a time wasting option to me !
350 flat has a big footprint though , it will depend on how much water you use , take your highest usage day and decide .

It'a 990x750 I think which sits well between the wheels and givea me more room than at the moment with 125 plus barrels.
The diagram below shows both the 125 + 220 and the 350.

300 L on average bit more when really full day is put in.

350 + Immersion heater if possible

Sunshine , thinking ahead here , i looked at your floorplans and i reckon that your best way forward would be to keep the 125 and add the 210/220 to it , my reasons are that i have seen your vids and a lot of your work seems slopey and rural , this could be a prob with a 350 having the large footprint and only one option to site the tank outlet , i run a 350 and a 175 , i find the 350 a proper pain at times due to my parking options , and im pretty much city based .
What i do is run the 350 for as long as i can then run the 175 with the smaller footprint at the end of the day , in doing this i can get the most from both tanks , it also pays to put a tap on each going to a T splitter with one feed to the pump , that way you can decide at any given time to pull water from either tank , and you will still be able to circ the water in your 125

Thanks for the reply Rich. I hadn't thought about that side of things. It's something for me to sleep on.
I may in the future change vans and a larger tank may be better going forward. I am unsure which is why I asked for opinions.

I have decided to go for a 350L which arrived today.
It will fit between the wheels and leave the space as indicated in the diagram on my OP.

However, if I fit it the other way the baffle is in the middle front to back plus the anchor points are more accessable. Next year I will have it fit in a frame, but for now it will be strapped in.

So which way round would you have it?

middle as near to bulkhead as possible ....buy steel bulkhead ebay

I would have it with the baffle going from side to side. Not pointing from back to front.
