Priced a job at a very lean price..Strip a Terracotta floor and two small bathroom floors one slate & one Travertine. Stripped and cleaned them yesterday...took me 5 hrs. went there today and applied sealer, did one coat then went and looked at a job came back a few hours later and did the final coat. The customer agreed the price of £450.00...Anyway when i finished the women kept saying i thought you were going to be here two day, i said the job would be done over two days...Thats a rip off you have hardly been here!! I said are you happy with job? yes she said but im only going to pay £400 because i think thats fair!! FFS After a heated chat i took the £400. Anyway the f---ing women has been on the phone all afternoon saying she wanted a gloss sealer on one of the bathroom floors and wants me straight back there to sort it. I phoned her and said you wanted gloss finish on the Kitchen floor and semi sheen on the bathroom floors...she wont have it...Bloody women thought i was going to be there 8-5 for two days thats what she cant get her head around!! Some people

You got paid for what you did, she paid so she must be happy with what you did?
Charge her £50 to apply a gloss sealer over the top.
Better still, tell her that its £100 for the gloss.

That's why we draw up a contract for every job telling them exactly what they are getting and we estimate the time to do the job.  But then we have a clause in the T&C's that says:

"The time to do the job is an estimate as stone cleaning and restoration is not an exact science.  If the job takes longer then you will not be charged any additional costs.  Similarly if we finish the job earlier there will be no rebate with the exception of accommodation costs if relevant"

I agree with the later, but for the avoidance of any doubt, I think you, by admission, agree, that Stone Cleaning is not necessarily a job which requires a formal qualification?
