quiet times....Help!!!!!
« on: December 18, 2012, 07:07:09 am »
I have recently started my buisness but finding it extremly quiet at the moment,I have advertised in local papers, I have yell.com on board and signed up for Google ad words. I was wondering if its the time of year ,or am I missing something, any advice from you cleanup veterans would really be appreciated. To start with I am aiming at the Domestic and office market and would like when, or if it ,picks up to invest in a wfp system too. Please can you offer any advice after all we all started out one day.

The only way to strum up new work fast is to get out and beat the streets door knocking , its the only way forward , i advertise all over but find face to face is 95% were my new custies come from.

Hi,
I just looked at your website.  It looks to me as if you're doing a number of different types of marketing to get customers.  Well done - you are on the right track.  However, a standard approach within Marketing might help which is known as the 3M's.
Market-Media-Message
First you need to identify your target Market.  You need to be as specific as possible - size, location, type of services etc etc
Then decide on the best Media to contact this Market.  e.g. leaflet drop, Facebook etc etc
Lastly you need to decide on a compelling Message to get the customer to come to you rather than your competitors.  i.e. What problem do they currently have which you may be able to solve for them.

I find the targeted approach outlined above works far better than the scattergun approach adopted by many.
Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to answer mate.I will be resuming door knocking after christmas but I am not really getting too much luck with that at the moment. I have probably knocked on 100 odd doors and not had one person interested and I have
only really targeted the more upmarket homes ie people that can probably afford a cleaner

is it just commercial work you are looking at,    you will have to mix it.   its hard canvassing,  sooo many doing this now.     work wont come to you. i hadnt canvassed for window cleaning for a very long time,, gets you thinking waether to carry on or sell up.   i gritted my teeth and went out canvassing, got £195 worth of work,   best thing i done,  kept sitting back saying ill go next week,  said this for about 5 months. its what brings the wage in,  you have to swallow your pride.     one day you will get a good area which needs one.    its like fishing. ::)

You might be better off just targeting the domestic market at first... The work is easier to find... Go door knocking / leave leaflets where no one is in / put leaflets up in ALL the local shops etc...

If you concentrate on targeting 100% domestic first then I think you will find more work will start to come in...
