Too cold.
« on: December 13, 2012, 09:21:38 am »
-5 here today. Taken the vans off the road today. Don't think hot water would even be an option today.
Yes it might able us to clean glass , pathways driveways would freeze. Don't think it's worth the risk of accidents trips falls ect.
Then there's the road conditions to take into consideration.
Just thinks its the right option. What do you think.

I think you ought to use rock salt in the places that are dangerous.  Just use a cloth for the doors.  Be sensible and use some common sense.

We start at 10.00 am and finish at 2.00 pm and we can turn over a good amount in that time.

We're really up-to-date too; all targets achieved, but as usual, we've had to be a little bit determined.  I've also booked in cleans, that makes us go out, even if we don't want too.

It looks like things are going to warm up a bit (maybe get wet?) so a day off wouldn't hurt.

Yes it has beaten me too.
Its not often though. I started at 9.30 (2 hours later than normal) it was -5 still.
The tops washed ok but the water that hit the ground froze and the windows below that were wet from the uppers, had also frozen.

Its minus 2 here in Fleetwood Lancs, i work really quickly and leave the water flowing to try and stop it freezing, then as soon as im done I quickly jump in the van and put the heaters on full wack to bring the temp up slightly..first winter using the pole, i made the mistake of stopping for a chat..not a good idea :/ Does anyone else leave a fan heater in the van overnight to prevent the pipes freezing? Anyway..good luck all 8)

i started at 10-30am and finished at 2-30pm.it was too cold really.i had a lot of porches and unheated conservatories freezing up all day!!but i found as long as i kept scrubbing it eventually melted only to freeze up again when rinsing!! >:( >:( ;D ;D

my reel also had a slight leak from the connector and this pooled into a fair bit of water that froze solid!!i nearly slipped over a few times today esp when putting reel back in van!! :( :(

id totally had enough by 2-30pm!!still i earned a fair bit.not bad for a crap day!!

day off tomorrow as forecast very heavy rain and gale force winds all day so im going to do all my crimbo shopping and a bit of collecting in the evening! ;D ;D ;D

better luck for sat and the whole of next week eh lads? ;D ;D

ive still go loads of work i want to cram in before xmas!! ;D ;D ;D

best wishes to you all

I did a guttering job at 8.30 this morning at -4. Gutters were choca. Moss was frozen solid. With the right tools, I had 2 8m runs of guttering done and fitted 2 gutter guards. Job done in an hour and forty mins and I was 90 quid better off.

Did windows all day after that. Nay sweat!  ;D ;D ;D

9 til 3 today.

Bit of salt at the start of the day and the last house too.

Lovely supple hoses and warm hands due to showa gloves.

Warm me due to thermals, silly hat and windproof outer layer. Toasty!

Dan whinged a bit - needs to work faster I told him! ;D ;D
