how long is a piece of string
« on: December 11, 2012, 04:02:56 pm »
, i know thats what i'm asking but what sort of hourly rate do you guys get for domestic cleaning, i get asked a lot for the service but don;t offer the service, i used to pass the job onto a local but he always says he's to busy ( ???) and doesn't want the work so i'm thinking about taking someone on part time.

mostly domestic but some commercial, usually a couple of hours a week, todays enquiry (which has promted this question) was for 2 to 3 hours cleaning a week, i presume all on the same day. i'm guessing anything from £10 to £15 per gour would be about right, am i close?

ps, not sure if this is a daft question but is there any training courses out there for domestic cleaning, not just what and how to do it correctly but maybe pricing and marketing etc.....?

thanks in advance.

you about right with your rate.
Be careful when you take somebody on....this can be a minefield, most important is trust.
You need to have insurance for them...holiday, sick pay and so on..etc, we been going for over 6 years and only now have we got a 1st class team.
What happens when they are on holiday or sick...you able to cover them?
I suggest you and the Mrs get this side of the ground first, once built up, take on someone to work alongside you, see how it goes then take on somebody else allowing the Mrs to take a managaging role, but able to step in, also bringing in more work....etc
If you want any further advice give us a call....later in the day is better, or leave a message and will call you back, as out most of the day...this time of year  ;)

I love this question, it brings out the smart arse in me.

Twice as long as half the length. People should know this.
