Aye, the pole's attached to the car by two sets of suckers used for carrying glass.
The camera's attached to the pole, and because the car and camera are moving at the same speed, on a long exposure (3-4 seconds) the background goes blurry giving the impression of speed but the car remains sharp.
(this was at less than walking speed, just by taking the handbrake off on a slight camber in the road!)
