« on: December 04, 2012, 06:19:17 pm »
Got one of my best rounds  to do over the Nxt few

Ave dug the hole road up and all blocked of cant get near!

Propa pain in the arse as its a cracking earner but then I thought
What if I was one of those who don't ring???

I would of turned up not been able to do one job and had to
Loose 2 days work with no notice. Paid the lad his day so would of been
Out of pocket  :'(

Builders clean tomo instead now that been waiting up be booked in,

Thinking about it I don't no what worse  ???  :D

Pros of calling/texting customers

Gates are unlocked
Windows are closed
I'm informed if they have builders in
I'm informed if the road outside is being dug up
I'm informed if they are unable to unlock the side gate as they are away
Basically I'm informed if there are any problems of any kind

Cons

Er, you have to do it

And before any neanderthal numpty comes on and says it gives them a chance to say "not this time", you need to get a new set of customers because mine don't.

Gates locked....Not a problem.
Windows opened....Still not a problem.
Builders in.... Dont have any single houses in street so will be working there anyway.
Road blocked....Move on to the next street.

Cons
Anything goes wrong your letting custys down.
If your having a good day and want to do some extra then what.
If having a bad day and want to go home early then what.
Most custys at work anyway so they dont care.
You have to do it

What an ill-considered and uncourteous contribution to the thread.

Thank you for reminding me why I stoppped posting on this site for a long time.

No wonder this forum isn't worth reading any more when tedious mind-numbing coprolites come on and post like this.

Come on no argueing please boys  ;D

didnt know i was  :o .... I just recalled a posting i made 6 months back about calling the night before and it ran for ever with thousands of viewings hence my oh no not again comment
however for the record i have about 5% of my customers that I call or text the night before as have dropped any that gave it a variation of "leave it this time" so as Vin suggested I got a new set of customers except none of these are phone the night before types as now im picky what i take on and any with access issues dont get on the books as once Ive done a days work the last thing i want to be doing is calling / texting customers for the next day ... not in case they say "not this time etc" just because come 5pm Ive had enough ... fair play to us on here that do call / text night before just not the way i want to do it ...... maybe it may change when we expand but at this moment in time its not for me

who is right ... who is wrong .... well I think we both are

i also keep pre arranging down to a minimum.some i do but again its probably 5%-10% of my work and its for access only.it defo makes sense as it keeps my business flexible and easier to run.

The customers that require a text or call the night before are generally the ones that will say the following, can i leave it this month?, it was only a month ago you came can you do it next time? i have other things planned can we leave it?  that last one is a bit of a funny comment seeing as though your only going to be cleaning their windows and should have little if not no impact on what it is they have to do. One customer i had text her and she gave the all clear to come clean i got their and she said could i come another time as i have the electrician here, i said is he working outside and running cables around no she replied he s working in the house well i said i let you know i was coming this clean is pre paid and i will not be in the electricians way at all as he was working inside and i was working outside, i also said to electrician who i parked in front of that if he needed to get his van out to give me a shout but since my cleaning was quicker than his work i was finished before him anyway so made no odds. Also another one oh its going to be foggy or raining tomorrow so can we leave it! In fact the only plus side to contacting first is if they leave you the cash that is if you have had the all clear to go ahead lol!

Unforecasted snow coming down here at the moment (Sussex).  Good job I didn't pre-arrange any work.

That why I'm still indoors but it looks to be brightening up out.

Phoning customers - I've some that like me to phone first or the night before so I do. I've never had any of the problems mentioned above to any degree what so ever. I've had the occasional 'not this month' but always for a valid reason.

I phoned a customer last night to say I'd be around at 9.30 this morning but it started snowing so I phoned her and now I'll be there tomorrow morning at 9.30.

Thats the joy of targeting mainly fronts. No need for calls or access issues.
I couldnt hack doing that each night calling round, surely it makes it easier for the custy to say leave it this clean etc.

I suppose different window cleaners work differently.

Maybe in a week I'll only have to phone about 8 or 10 customers the night before. Sometimes it's less than that.

Yep want to do this next year, £10 for front or front + side.
If want backs done will do back as well if custie in, as and when, or climb over gate to do every time if custie not in.
And get slow payers on standing order.
