GD

please leave the personal insults and swearing.

calling someone a P***K will not be tolerated

Sorry Dave I just get so riled by the negative people on here, not been on for a while and it's just the same old people having a dig at anyone and anything, they seem to think its sport and its big and clever....

Won't happen again....

How was i negative about your online business???
Your 1 of those blokes who you have to agree to disagree with.
All i did was checked out what you was bigging yourself up about using social media and to be honest i didnt find it that good or interesting at all. Anyone can setup a facebook or twitter account to advertise what they do however 99% of people use social media to socialise with. If joe bloggs wants a window cleaner he would go on yell.com over facebook or twitter any day of the week all they can do on twitter is follow and watch you being desperate for work offering all sorts of promotions like 50% off first clean etc where as i charge an extra 50% on first cleans. I have had roughly 20 customers from facebook from friends knowing what i do over 5 years. Around 50 from yell.com but the larger 1000+ customers have all came from canvassing and word of mouth using no advertising, leaflets or websites just plain old chasing the work myself which i am verey proud of achieving.
Social media doesnt even come close.

Social media is about networking, for most businesses it will never take over from other forms of promotion.

But and its a big but done properly it will HELP expand your business through brand awareness.

For The Tech Repair Centre it was an experiment to see how far you could go with social media, facebook is the main page but most of the work comes from my personal page through networking through the groups and just running a plain and simple ad. I get messages from friends of friends of friends because I am now known to a lot of people as the guy that fixes iPhones, ipads etc.

The experiment was purely a personal one to see if I could go from a standing start and turn it into a viable business. The next step is to take it into a major brand on Nottingham and the surrounding areas high streets... Then who knows how far it can go but all I know from the last few months is the market is there and people want them fixed....

well done mate, good luck for your future  :)

Yea sure, I find it odd you should wish to frequent a window cleaning for two years and not be a window cleaner.

Are you the same fella that used to come on here that alled himself Davo or Dave who wasn't a window cleaner either? There can't be that many.

I know you wont as your stubborn but take my advice and do as my mate does and get a proper market stall, you dont need a shop yet . My mate does 2 markets a week and the days he doesnt do the markets he is repairing non stop phone after phone after phone from customers who went to he's stall. He has so much money round him and has a great reputation. No website, advertising just a market stall and being good at what he does. He uses youtube if he ever gets stuck doing a repair and buys all hes spares from ebay and broken phones from gumtree. So much profit involved if you go about it the right way.

Thanks Ben...

Rise n shine...

I find it even odder that you would even worry about why I come on here...

I ran a canvassing company then I became a window cleaner myself then decided it wasn't for me then went back to canvassing, all the time being involved in other business helping them with business development...

Since I stopped canvassing a while ago I have not been on but recently a couple of opportunities have come my way so here I am....

Do I have your permission to stay now?? Pretty please....

Mick why on earth would I listen to your advice?

Where did I say I was getting a shop? I said I was taking it to the high street, there are other ways but I will leave you guessing on that one, lollipop for the winner...

No disrespect to your friend but I have much bigger plans than a market stall two days a week, and before you start I am not saying there is anything wrong with that just its not in my short or long term plans...

Mick stick to giving your valued advice to people who may want or need it but I am just fine thanks fella...

I thought my curiosity was simply that; down boy with the sarcasm! ;-) as its a forum, if you're not in the biz you're going to have to expect to be asked. I guess you are Davo, he always responded with a knee jerk reaction just like that. Sorry if my curiosity offended you, but that's something you'll have to get over.

Don't they have telephone repair forums?

You only read what you want to hear, have you got nothing better to do with your life than troll about a window cleaning forum?

The really funny part is you actually think you are being clever, you quote Twain and then ignore your own advice....

Lol your a sad small time twit that uses twitter, a market stall is 100 times better than how you do it now. The point i was making is my mate only needs to do 2 days on the stall main reason being to collect the broken phones and to give them back and the selling of items is the bread and butter he takes more than me a month.

i told you that you wouldnt last at canvassing. You even said you canvassed for window cleaners but didnt work out so started to clean yourself couldnt hack it so went back to canvassing and failed at that so now fixing broken phone screens. Not being funny but how dare you mock me when your a loser to yourself buddy. How many different businesses do you want to attempt. By the looks at it social media far from works for you.

Oh I have got him lol not fun is it?

For the record I have worked freelance in business development for the last ten years, which means I have worked for dozens of companies over the years...
ask anybody that actually knows me and whose opinion I actually value and you will find out I am very capable and certainly not a loser...

Sweet dreams

This is making ian wicks look bad. Maybe he is onto something but with gd popping up with hes failed attempts and not being able to prove how social media is a great tool for business doesnt look good for anyone else to make a stand.

Look at the more succesful parties on this forum
Dave morris
Clear magic
Souter
Lee pryor
Richard speech
Easy clean
Jv price
To name a few.
They dont sit at home all day poxy tweeting on twitter and offering 50% off first clean. They all buy work or get decent canvassers to build there work,, not 2 bob outfits like you who doesnt canvass coz of a bit of rain or who has to do new estates coz cant manage with all the negatives at the doors.
I dont like mocking people but you seem a wierd breed coming on here when your not even in the game anymore???
