Do you guys use Facebook, twitter and youtube for your business?

if you do, how are you finding it is going for you?

if you are, which ones are you using and getting results on

if your not, what is stopping you from using social media for your business ?

I dont use any of the above. I dont want work scattared aboUt all over the place. Not that desperate to gain uncompact work. Prefere to find the work myself.

If i was just starting up then it would be a different matter as id need as much custom as i could get.

Not on Facebook or twitter or owt else !
Stuck in my ways I suppose but everyone I need to stay in contact with I do face to face
One of my customers did set up something for me on Facebook though a few months ago (I only had her and 1 other in the village where she lives so she said she'd put the word about) and now I've got 9 customers thru her recommendation  :)

same as mick, plus I don't want to clean my friends windows and I am not in the habit of accepting friend requests from people I don't know anyway.

With a background in sales and marketing my conscience is screaming at me to sort facebook and a website. I've only been in the window cleaning business a couple of years and I already know that my greatest new source of reliable business is word of mouth recommendations.

Facebook requires regular updates of "interesting content" to work successfully but it works very well at a social level and is ideally suited to domestic cleaners. Website is a no brainer, which makes me stupid!

I use Facebook, Twitter & Google plus but none of them are being used to their full potential though.

I'm only 4 months in but don't want to use any of them. I think they are a great media for advertising (just look at the companies who are using them) but not for window cleaning. Effective advertising is about getting the best return for the effort and resources you put in. For me it's canvassing.

I use Facebook and it works brilliantly as a customer comments on her account that she has a brilliant window / carpet cleaner and all her friends can see it.

I've picked up loads of work with it, and despite what some folk say, you can NEVER have too much work ;)

Would it not be better to tell us why you think we should be using these media?

im trying to understand what others think about it Joe, I have no problem explaining why I think you should be using it and how to, but this is not the reason for this post.

im interested in what others think about it, whats stopping them going on it, why they use it and so on. Why they hate it even

Ill be honest Ian,
I don't use social media because I don't how to - I wouldn't know how to maximise it and take advantage of its full potential
Not sure anyone I know would know either!

I'm not a technophobe, I've just never bothered  :)

Thanks for the post. I am wondering how many more window cleaners feel the very same way you do, thanks for honest reply.

Anyone else want to give thier thought on this subject, good or bad

I think all this social media stuff is an age related thing. My kids would love it  but many of us above a certain age wouldn't have a clue or any interest in it. Facebook would be the last place I'd personally look for a tradesman.
The younger customers aren't the ones I want.
I've never understood why anyone feels the need to put their photo album in front of millions of people they don't even know  ???

I think its the future but not the pressent.
Getting started in all this techy stuff now maybe the setting in stone of future advertising.

I wait and let the kids sort it out  ;D
