Hands up who's running a business?
« on: November 27, 2012, 04:06:31 pm »
Some of the Alan Sugars on here believe they are running a business whilst some of you lesser mortals aren't.
How would you define a business?
Are we all running businesses on here?
I am  ;) Are you?

Well, that's a condescending way to ask a question guaranteed to generate more heat than light.

Hi Dave
I think you can define it simply by saying it's a business if it runs while your not "doing it". If not, it's a self employed job which is what a lot of people want.

You can always tell the Alan Sugars because they say "we" even though they work on their own.

But actually, we all run a business if we are selling a service.

Perhaps I'll simplify the question for some of you.

How do you define " a business"?

I definately run a business. Absolutely, if I didn't cover all the bases then my business would cease to exist. Theres more to running a business than turning up and cleaning glass; when you do that you're running a business.

Brickies are self-employed, they turn up, lay bricks, go home. I employ someone, he's self-employed or on the cards, it's irrelevant. He comes to work, cleans glass, goes home.
