Hi Shaun
I have paid my 50% to Nick
and will of course go through with the purchase.
But a little bit concerned why you would want to move it on (And I wish I new that before hand)
Are you unhappy with it / did it do the job properly / ?
could you let me know

Paul, I'd very quickly rethink using the estate car.
You'll never get the machine in one without putting it on it's side, then there'll be 25 foot of 2 inch tube, a wand, buckets, chemicals, vacuum etc etc. Even if you do get half of that list into a car you'll going to look a right pikey turning up and unloading it. I've got a scorpian (same machine really) and a Mondeo (which is a large estate car) and no way without even trying will that lot get in there.
You need at least a small van

Hi Paul

Good luck with it all I don't think I would like to start out at 62 but needs must I guess. Don't ask others about machines because everyone's opinion is different and when you've invested over 3 k in something it's a little hard to slag it off and to be honest all machines have their faults but you only find them out once you have used them over a period of time.

Nice offer from Mike, you should def get together with him, although I don't usually agree with him he is one that you could probably rely on and get a decent honest answer.

As for Paul Moss the less said the better to be honest I don't even waste my time reading his posts as a rule, probably a really successful guy but has a real chip on his shoulder, if you stick around you'll find that he's not the only one.

It's tough out there but there is money to be made.

Good luck

Tony

Hey Tony
what a great post and yes the artheritus is twinging already but as you say needs must and god do I need ! I think it will be tough, I am under no illusions but maybe deluding myself that I can cope,we'll see.
as for the machine it was picked as much for the weight as well as the power at 42kg I believe its one of the lightest and the elbow joints probably cheered at that bit.
I am concerned about the stair kit got a feeling will need more than I have but sounds like Mike should put me straight. But hey 3 cleans in a day sounds like its going to be seriously tough but I am looking forward to it and still strangely excited by the prospect of my own cleaning business, wonder if I will feel that way in six months?
all the best I hope we speak again

Use it or lose it. If you build up gradually Paul you will be fitter than the average 50 year old office worker and despite worrying about where the next months money is coming from, being in control of your own destiny is one of the best feelings there is.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

There are things you need  to be doing right now, get your listing on google places

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=selby+carpet+cleaners&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

There are only 2 companies listed,

You need a website, if money is tight then MIght be worth looking here....

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=161125.0

In the begining You need To put out leaflets, start  investigating who can deliver them in Selby.

Don't bother finding out about your 'competition'  looking at the area there is plenty of work for a new company

If you call this morning and it goes to the answer phone don't worry I'm in the sticks so the reception will be bad..... Just call later

Paul,

A Berlingo will be big enough to get all of your kit in but you will soon be annoyed with having to 'move this to get to that'. My advice on a van would be a swb panel van at the very smallest but the I do know some guys who drive Connects (smaller than Berlingos) so I suppose each to there own.

Paul ..Maybe a citreon dispatch size van.

That will give you side doors so its easier to get to your gear..

Good luck with your new venture.

You will benefit lots from the day out working with mike too.
