How long...

....do you wait for someone to turn up for a pre-arranged appointment? Gone are the days when I'll sit waiting (like my times not worth anything) for people who can't be bothered to show up at the time they requested. They get my "I was here where the bl--dy hell were you" card through the door and I'm gone.

Guy last week, recommendation from a carpet retailer, requested a 5pm appointment. Only had his land line number. Still not there at quarter past five so card through door and off for home I go. Half way home and I get a message from my answering service who tell me Mr xxx has called to say he's not happy. He was home at 5.01 pm (liar) to find my card through his door. Didn't return his call that night, far too wound-up.

He called again the following morning to, again, say he's not happy. Called him back to explain "I waited until 5.15pm and he wasn't there. I have no way of knowing if someones going to be five minuets late, 50 minutes late or five hours late". Started trying to lay into me that he was home at 5.01pm and ....................At that point i thanked him for his call and hit the "off" button.

Don't get many but boy do they wind me up.

Think you'll find it's Adrian but perhaps that's because you are old and niggly.

I will wait for 5 minutes then its a polite note through the door asking them to call me if they want to rebook.

Had one a month or so ago when I waited 15 minutes and still a no show,I came home and just got in and she phoned me saying she was now home.Even though she was only about 3 miles away there was no way I was going back.

I asked her if she wanted to rebook but I never heard from her again.

These people need to realise that it happens quite a lot over the period of a year,it does to me anyway ;D

Hi

This happened to us 2 Fridays ago...A guy called us to clean his hall/stairs/landing.

The wife booked him in for 10.30....Arrived 10.25 (no answer) just had he`s landline number called that still no answer...Waited to 10.50 put a card through the door (time left / please call us).

At  2.30 the guy called us (You was early can you come back to clean my carpets?) My wife said we called at 10.30 as arranged and no because we are now cleaning another customers carpets you should have been there as arranged...He went of his head started swearing at her and everything...She said oh well you better find another carpet cleaner and put the phone down on him...Does make your blood boil

As Shaun posted, It's Adrian. but thanks anyway Andy ;)

Old & niggly? Yes if you listen to the wife, but then she isn't a customer. Can't afford me ;D

I wait 10 to 15 minutes then a polite note. If people are apologetic when you finally speak to them they tend to be good customers in the long run. If they are dismissive about it or in any way inflexible I drop them because they will keep on doing it.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I have a customer that has carpets cleaned every 8 to 10 weeks when I get there she's all over the place tidying up etc then she'll say "do you want to re arrange?" While I'm getting set up, I just have to help her tidy up and push her out of the house and take kids to school when she comes back jobs done and I'm packed away.
