RO Performance
« on: November 24, 2012, 02:38:32 pm »
Men!

I have a 300 gpd RO (3 x 100 gpd membranes) that brings the tds from the mains water supply down from 400 – 450 to 3 – 5 ppm.

Has anyone manage to match those tds figures with the larger 4 x 40 RO.

Thanks Nick

Sorry, but I can’t post any pics as I don’t know how.
My RO system is bog standard:
10 inch sediment filter
10 carbon filter
3 x 100 gpd RO membranes
Water pressure 75 - 80 psi
There is no need for DI as the tds are low enough to clean with.

Hi Nick hows it going mate!

I have twin 40 40 HF5 with ionic carbon/sediment filter and ionic softner. about 60psi and incoming tds of 300

my ro produces 001 after a flush out then about 12 hours later it may rise to around 004 or 5 we only use resin in the summer time. the RO doesnt produce as well then.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

No problem cleaning with a tds above 000?
A few on here insist on having zero and I thought that was the norm tbh ?
Mines just gone to 001 and I was gonna change the resin in the week!
If I can get away with it for a bit longer then great

Cheers appreciate that
If you can get away with upto 010 Why the fuss with new ionics ppb ?
I must admit I've cleaned with tds of 005 before I realised and fully expected a few call backs!
Cheers  :)

what is the saving between the two ? And how often do you have to check the water between then ?

i dont think the saving will be great, however i know that it makes 100% no difference in results therefor no need to worry if it creeps up ,
i see where you are coming from as i used to change resin when it came to 001 my logic was its a small price to pay same as yours infact but as my time in window cleaning
developed i realised it makes no difference at all so no need to worry if it creeps up
