it fabric is similar to a blackout white roller window blind.

you know stuff turns yellow dinginess over time. for example white paper, white t-shirts lose their whiteness because of this.

Sometimes they are covered in a polymere and you can atack it with almost anything like mild detergents such as fairy etc, but I would be carfull just in case, If having a go always use safe cleaning practises like testing an area first that wouldent be visable "not easy in this case" and start from bottom and work your way up to prevent run marks aplying chemicals to a tery towle and not the screen

But I would consider using solvents for this as water might not do it any good  ::)

Could be a job for a CC'er but might be cheeper in that case to buy a new one

Ive posted a link in the CC'er section to your post, as there might be a chemical out there suitable for the job that im not aware of like Ultrapac Renovate

If you know the manufacturer you could try and find out from them or the person you got it from.

Have a bit of home cinema myself, I deal with Acton gate audio 01978-364500. They`re closed mondays so try tomorrow. Mike and Andy are very knowledgable and very helpful.

If you are near east london,  I would have a go at it.  Something like stain remover plus from Ashbys would take off most stains, so as long as you can test that it is not going to ruin it, why not try?

Trying really hard to clean all of East London!

Don't use Oxyclean for Gods sake.

I would guess the reason its turned yellow in the first place is because a product  with bleach or alcohol was used to clean it in the past. If thats the case the damage is done. If its a more obvious problem like nicotine then use a solution that does not contain bleaches or alcohol solvents.
