Help With Revised Forum Rules....
« on: November 20, 2012, 03:06:20 pm »
A while back I suggested to admin that we revise and update the site rules for CIU and they thought it was a good idea:

And as you can see, promptly sloped shoulders back in my direction!  >:(

So sloping them towards my fellow members, have you any suggestions what our site rules should be?  Funny ones would be appreciated too.

EXAMPLES:

1.  This is an open and unbiased forum, unless of course you slag off our sponsors, then you will be banned without warning.

2.  What goes on in the off topic area, stays in the off topic area.  Unless of course it's really funny and moronic and then it goes in my signature.

3.  There are no rules or regulations with regards site moderation.  Enjoy your ban.

4.  Barnes is only allowed to post in the 'boring and inane thread'; it was especially created as a 'bin' just for his use.

But please, sensible ones too!

Okay, here's some sensible ones to kick off with:

1.  Members should respect alternative views to their own and not threaten each other with violence, either on the forum or by e-mail.  Instances of this happening may result in the interweb police being contacted and an immediate life-time ban implemented.

2.  Posting while drunk is never a good idea.  (This will bar Barnes from posting altogether; sorry Barnes).

3.  Poetry is never appropriate.

Members should not be aloud to post before 09.00 and after 22.00 in order to promote a social life.......joking :p
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

You socialise before 9.00 am?  My dog is lucky if I grunt at him before midday.   ???

Only 20 posts (in this current incarnation I see); I've thought of another:

You are not your post count: all are equal, unless you have very few, in which case your opinion has no value.

And if you have 14000+ you are infallible............?

No more 'Bhuddist-type' posts from anyone - this will see your current posts of 14 million be curtailed somewhat.

Good one, good one.  I'll also forward your name to admin as potential moderator material.

Well done that man.

I do think something needs to be implemented regarding offline contact between members if one half finds it unacceptable. Having been on the receiving end of this on two occasions, once where the police became involved due to me asking them to; and once where the person (you are also aware of this instance Tosh so I believe) made very ugly comments about the death of my mother which I responded to who then contacted me via telephone in a threatening manner (hus manner was comical in fact, i felt more sorry for him than snything else, but that's not the point). He wanted to intimidate.

I have no idea how to implement this but do think its worth either forum members or 'the team' giving it some thought.

To be honest i quite like the forum, and few guys on here have helped me out in tight situations
My suggestion would be: remember, window cleaning is like religion.....there are lots of different opinions and answers, just be respectful of other peoples as they should of yours :)
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Great.

Do you get paid per post or is it on a reward basis?

How much per locked sponsor bashing post?

I wasn't aware, Matt, but I am sure we will have something in the site rules reminding people that they're expected to act like normal human beings.

And I do know from another instance that the police do take interweb based anti social behaviour properly; there's even an electronic communications act which covers this nicely;  I'll dig out.

Thanks.

It's an annual salary of £30K per year, plus free health care, pension and company car, plus an invite to an all expenses paid dinner by Mike every Christmas.

Remove post count from posters details. (It just reminds me what a saddo I am)  ;D

No poetry?

I think it is a bad idea
  to remove po-etry from here
If this avenue was cut off from me
then what a saddo I would be
From this forum I would have to be let go
By the evil one who lurks in Chep-stow
Actually what an incentive ...
  Tosh; that's quite inventive
Perhaps I might ask to moderate
If such request is not too late
And Mikey does not change the rule
that mentally you must have left school
Poetry is honey from the gods
to be wasted on you bods!

How about freedom of speech without fear of banning and or deleted?

Why should someones post be removed just because a company have a banner on the site and dont like being whats said ?

They might pay for advertising, but without the members reading and using the forum there wouldnt be any point  would there.

All started when that rug muncher jason (little hit-ler) came into power .... even though hes gone - his legacy has lived on hasnt it.

Wouldnt even suprise me if this post gets deleted  to be honest - Id put this forum on par with China but getting closer to North Korea   as its being run now days.

Shame we cant reset it back 3+ years when it was a great place to be
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go
