I bought 100 metres of the newer gardiner hose
About a month ago and it's a nightmare!!
Really stiff and gets tangled up like a box of cotton.
And has split twice this week 3 times in all!!
I had the old stuff in my pole 18 months b4 it split
This stuff is the pits
Just trying to figure out what I can go with the rest of it
As I HATE wasting money
Sorry Alex but this is the only rubbish thing I've ever bought
of you!!
Sorry Alex but I also have to agree on this one. Not the best thing I've ever bought from you.
I bought 100 metres of 8mm a few months back from you. I was starting to think I had old stock or something.
It's not very flexible, tangles easily and I find I still need the barbs for the push fit tap else they weep.
I haven't had any split yet though.
Your issue may be down to the fact that it has been stored as a 100m reel and when you pull off 8m or so for a pole it still has a memory from being tightly rolled for a while.
What can really help is to condition it before use. Cut off the length you need from the main roll and then a fill bucket with near boiling water (couple of boiled kettles with the rest tap hot) and submerge the hose in it for 20 or 30 seconds. Then remove the hose and loosely coil the hose in about a 50cm diameter coil and leave for a few hours like this. When you then come to use it for the first time it should be a lot more usable and give you less hassle.
The slight problem we have is that when we have a pole hose produced we have to try and produce a 'middle of the road' hose that suits most people. Our current hose seems to do this - however it will not suit everyone.
However having said all of this you mention that your hose is not fitting into the pole valve without slight weeping. Could you email me on
alex@agardiner.co.uk so that I can address this issue for you as this should not be happening and I would like to get this sorted for you.
