a custie asked me today about cleaning his solar panels.....
it,s a bungalow, so I know I can get easy access......
he has 10 panels...

has anyone done this type of work, is it safe to do wfp,

i use a gardiners black soft bristle sill brush or the standard black flocked brush on solar panels.perfect for the job and you wont scratch the panels!!

I have a standard flocked brush.....it's very soft....just like the one glen parva posted about.....so I should be ok...

I am not going to push this service, but after doing a few , who knows what the future holds

how much u guys been charging?

i charge on time mate.im happy with £60 an hour on these jobs.so if i think itll take 20 mins to 30 mins to clean i charge £30!

good add ons but they dont need cleaning very often.usually once a year for my customers but still worth doing IMO.its all extra money!!

hey dazmond,

i've been warned not to use flocked brushes on these as they can hold grit in their split ends

i make sure the brush is nice and clean before i start richard.ive never had a problem.

We have been doing solar panels for nearly 3 years. Of all the cleaning services we offer, this is our most lucrative.  Agree with others that your insurance needs to have solar panel cleaning in the wording.  We get systems switched off before we clean them to reduce risk of electrocution.  It is a risk that is overlooked by many.  Marketed correctly, it is a winner.

Daz what about the dirt being picked up in the bristles on the job? Highly unlikely I know but it could happen

I think Solar Steve advice is sound.
Then take a look at this on you tube.The Yanks have been in the Solar panel business for years before us. I have never understood solar energy in our climate.What sun?

I can't see my average custy climbing up on the roof like spiderman to have a look

You get a drop in generation. They call their installers to inspect why. Installers will notice scratches and ask if they have had them cleaned and who by.  Installers not too keen to maintain warranties if not cleaned by an approved contractor.
