Yeah pop up a couple of pictures back and front.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

What a stupid thing to say, you must have nothing left to learn to make such a comment.

Whatever the merits of taking these courses, it demonstrates that the person taking them is keen to learn the correct methods and skills needed to build a professional and successful  business. some rugs are very prone to dye bleed and care should be taken when deciding what chemicals to use, we are working on peoples possessions sometimes they are irreplaceable and or very valuable, carpets in customers homes are one of the single biggest investments, gaining a little knowledge on working on them rather than learning from mistakes made in customers home is surely prudent, and that behaviour should be applauded, not ridiculed.

If its wool and you are concerned at all about colour fastness then i would use something like Prochem prespray gold, or maybe M Power and rinse with an acidic rinse.

Why don't you put a picture up before you have a go at it. All James knows is it's wool and now you are saying it's really old.

Just goes to show that you can't beat experience and a bit of go get it done, training courses tell you the how's and why's, it's all okay when it goes okay it's when it doesn't that's when you go back to the training manual.

Re the last post -

If you use powerburst, shockwave or any other high ph chemical remember to do an acidic rinse.

Attending a course on carpet cleaning before becoming a "carpet cleaner" is surely better than not bothering, no one has said that attending these courses will mean that you have nothing left to learn that's clearly ridiculous. But it does show that the person at least recognises that it would be better to have a little understanding of his chosen profession, the course teaches the very basics, just because someone was unsure of what to do even though they had attended the extensive all encompassing "TWO DAY COURSE" does not invalidate the merits of taking the course in the first place. What wrong with wanting to learn, so he forgot something i would have thought Susan would have been the last person to have been critical of not absorbing information.

I think the main problem here is that most rugs, wool rugs included, you can treat like carpet. Use a woolsafe prespray and HWE. If this has only ever been your experience then you are bound to wonder what all the fuss is about.

On the other hand, unfortunately there are many, many rugs that will bite you in the ass if you HWE them. Some rugs will bleed if you put tap water on them let alone pre-spray gold. And you can test a colour one end and it's fine and at the other it heamerages colour because it's another batch or there are pet issues.

Ignorance is bliss until you fk up and it might be someones heirloom you've trashed
