Customers 6-12 weekly cleans
« on: November 10, 2012, 10:12:02 pm »
I am trying to figure out the best frequency to set.

If I get 100 new customers over the next few weeks.

How may would you expect to be 6 weekers and how many 12 weekers?

Any thoughts from those that know?

Can I ask -
Why 6&12 weekly??
Why not 4&8, which is is surely the most popular?

Not having a dig, just asking.

if you are wfp cleaning 6 and 12 are perfect - trad would be 4 or 8

i do 4 or 8 wfp and wished i'd done 6 or 12 ( but hey ho ! )

my split is around two thirds 4 wky to a third 8 weekly altho new customers tend to be a 50/50 split - i give a 30 to 50 % discount on 4 weekers  ;)

example    8 wky clean is £30  a 4 wky clean would be £22

Genuinely like reading your posts Darran - can I ask why you wish you'd done 6 & 8 wkly?
Sometimes I feel like I'm too early @ 4wkly, then I'll get the odd call moaning when I'm a couple of days late!
I am toying with the idea of going with a monthly date instead of 4/8wkly - but I'd lose too much money pushing back to 6wk

Cheers  :)

Thats the argument i have been having with myself.

4-8 is great if most sign up 4 weekly. If more go 8 weekly then i may have been better of doing 6-12 if the % of 6 weeklly cleans are high, ultimatly this may need less customers.

Tricky, want to set out right if i can.

Says who?
Wholly depends on wether you get the right prices for that work
You can earn the same/better compacting and doing it more frequent  ;D

i went for 4 and 8 weeks as i was trad when i started out and this seemed the norm at the time - but after
changing to wfp it was clear that 99% of windows are still clean and clear after 4 wks ! but by the time i fully
realised this the rounds were to large to alter the frequency

but folk are funny - i have a hard core that would not be happy with a 6 week service - 4 weeks does seem incredibly quick sometimes and in the early days quite often i got 'you back so soon' but as time has gone on these people have proved to have been either time wasters or plumpted for an 8 wky service ( with the appropiate adjustment in price )
with a clear choice of 4 or 8 i havn't had a 'your back quick' comment for nearly 2 years.

dont put your perception on whats to quick - the customer will let you know - and they take great store in some1 being reliable/on time every month as much as doing a good job

if you learn how to price properly you can.

you can still have a very compact round charging over 6 weekly. or 8 weekly it doesn't matter. ive proved that over 9 years

Not having a go mate honest!
Why can't you price properly @ 4wkly?

I know from experience that a lot of customers will readily agree to the 4wkly, but then comment on how fast the time has gone

I also get the flip side of folk calling after 3 & a bit weeks asking when I'm next due   ;D

The point is, if they express the tiniest interest in increasing the time span, that's fine - I just put the price up accordingly and I'm still better off than 6&12 wkly

Everyone's different tho and it depends how busy you are - I couldn't afford to do it methinks  :)

To answer Tims question.

We do 6 and 12 for which you can charge more than 4 and 8 meaning when you are full you earn more. We charge a 40-50 % mark up for 12 weeks over 6.

Over the last 2 years the split has changed greatly. 2 years ago 80% picked 6 weeks. now I find 50-60% pick 12 weeks. Again it takes more to be full but then you generate so  much more. It could be the difference bettween £200 a day and over £300
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

I'm thinking of canvassing new builds at 6 &12 weeks up here the norm is 2 or 4 weeks. Most older customers like this. I reckon the young families and couples in new builds will be happy to pay more for a longer frequency. Well I hope they will. ;D

I'm starting a new stream of customers on 6 weeks just to hedge my bets and give me another income stream.
Find some of the harder up customers are struggling with every 4 weeks and now I've gone WFP they are hardly dirty when I get back around, some wanted to cancel but have opted for 8 weeks.
Everyone is different and when I went on holiday had quite a few 4 weekers commenting how I was late this time!

You only get more if you have enough work to warrent going 6/12 weekly. I have over 1000 customers split over 2 rounds and i still couldnt warrent going over to 6/12.

I offer 8 weekly as standard... I will take on 16 weekly's if they are well paying / large houses... I will take on 12 weekly's if they are local or around other work so that I can slot them in as extras when they are due (or almost due).

Working like this gives me good flexibility... If I turn up at a regular 8 weekly customer and can't clean because of building work or something going on then I can replace straight away with a 12 weekly that is due or almost due.
