Yes, but when I had a merchant account for a website it was 18p for debit cards. As a wc I see no benefit in Paypal or any other system that charges 2.75%. Bacs, cheque or cash is enough I think.

The main benefit of Paypal as I see it is that it is a trusted brand. Some people (granted it's a minority) are wary about dishing out card details. Paypal can be another string to your bow. Just state that if they want to pay that way they cover the charges. I do not charge for payments though as for me it works out about the same as postage.
Another advantage of taking card payments is debt recovery, if you have an overdue customers phone number you can phone them up and ask for payment via card, if you have their email address you can send them a pay by link email. If you have half decent round software this could even be done automatically with any references already filled in.
