4 Weekly to 8 Weekly - price difference
« on: November 06, 2012, 09:42:01 am »
Hi

After your thoughts on the above

Have a custy who now wants 8 weekly instead of 4 (suspect a winter thing but thats a different story)

Just after some advice on whether i should increase the price if so by what or keep the same ???

Anyways its a well priced 4 weekly £20 in an area where i have a few other jobs 4 weekly so isnt really out of my way wont effect the round structure etc..

And really is well priced at £20 (should be about £12 - £15) ...

So for the sake of losing it what would you do??... I'm thinking of maybe trying for an extra few quid for the 8 weekly but then think its probably well priced for 8 weekly anyways...

Was thinking of responding by saying "yes sure 8 weekly will be fine however the price will increase by x as there will be more required on an 8 weekly "...

Regards
Paul

I think you answered you own question. your already charging more so why would you be greedy and risk loosing them as customers. if they quit and bring in another cleaner who charges a "realistic" price you could end up loosing more in that area.
be honest! how much longer will be you there cleaning on an 8 weekly opposed to 4? I have never noticed a difference.
I would only charge more if someone wanted 3 monthly or more.

It takes the same time whether 4 weeks or 8, methinks you just being a bit greedy.

+50% in my case.

All my customers are offered that - 2/3 take it, so it must seem fair to them.

be glad you have that customer,  hard to get,   especially up here in north east.  every one out of work seems to be buying ladders and trying it.    hopefully a few might freeze through the winter and sell up.  seems only way to get the work up here latelly,   most areas canvassed.  too many companys laying people off,  and shutting down

Has nothing to do with greed it's routine structure if your happy converting a round to 8 weeks cleans then you will be needing double the work.. 4 to 5 week cleans have always worked for every windy, all the houses I have on 8 to 10 week I charge £2 extra and those seasonal customers can go find another window cleaner as I'm not here for there convenience  ;)
If Paul already has a great price he may consider sticking to his guns on this house but as for other 8wk cleans charge £2 extra.

Its not for any other resin we charge more for 8 weeks that you would want to reward your 4 weekly customer and encourage your eight weekly to go to 4 weekly . What would happen if you 4 weekly customers heard the could change to 8 weekly in winter at the same price.
Think of it ASDA offer 3 for two and said buy one and you could also have one free, would they not make less money.

Hi Paul , if they are a really good custy just add a few quid and make a point of telling them you would typically charge more but seen as they have been a good custy you are happy to just add a few quid . But it is your call really .

I have one custy who i get on great with similar age to me moved to a bigger house and could not afford 4 weekly clean at quoted price so i said i would clean at same price at £12:00 for 15 mins work i am not losing out . Mike

For the sake of an extra £2 every 2 months... IS IT WORTH THE RISK?

No

Thankd for comments lads.. nice to see the variation as ever..

Regarding the greed stuff - i'm not..... just have a good pricing structure that yeah suppose it takes me bit longer to get my custys and i have to work harder to find them but when i do it is worth my while time and effort..

At the time i quoted this house i had little or nothing in that area... i kept to the structure and my calculation formula to get to the price of £20.. based on travel set up job time pack up move on etc...

I now have a bit more work in the area so if i now put the same house through the calulation process it prob would come back as around the £15 mark.... Are you really telling i should be dropping the price now ??? ???... dont think so.... and we all run the risk of someone else coming along and undercutting...regardless of our prices and there are many on here saying their custys have been canvassed at a cheaper price....and they have declined the offer ... so i contunue on the way i do...

Its not greed its just the motto of "price well work easy"...and the way i want to do it.... it may take me longer than those that price cheap to achieve volume.... and on that note i have picked up a few custys from windies who have under priced... found better priced work and ditched the custy as they feel the work under priced.... im avoiding this by getting the structure right from the start of the pricing process...

I have decided to do the 8 weekly for the same price based on a number of things and comments received on here...also im in good mood today as i'm off to Belgium tomorrow for a few days for the TOON match ;D ;D

Thanks for the comments

Paul
