just wondering , at the moment my waste does actually go down the drain , could this be whats making them think i got a leak , the costant running down grid , if i was to start putting waste to garden would this stop em sniffing around , or can they actually see lots of water is coming out of the tap  ???
the more flyers i post , the luckier i seem to get ...

There will be a water meter (as a minimum) at the end of your road, possibly a couple along it if it's long.  They look at the readings and it gives them an idea if there's any unusual consumption (either a leak or someone like you) along the run.  Once they have it down to a run of houses, they start investigating by listening for leaks through listening sticks, etc.

Your sewer is unlikely to be the source of their knowledge as it's unmetered.

I suspect so, so you might as well prepare for it.
