Setting out your targets
« on: October 31, 2012, 01:44:57 am »
Does anyone not so much write a business plan but do you write down your targets that you like to hit by a certain time .. month or date.

am talking about building your business up into a better state or canvassing, and how many customers you want to hit by what method door knocking leaflets or other forms od advertisements... if you do do this how do you structure it as writing the information down?
Dave.

I have a spreadsheet with a graph which I fill out over the Christmas break every year with my targets for the coming year. Then I just fill it out on the 1st of every month.
I also have one giving me the value of all my rounds both domestic and commercial, by doing it in that form as opposed to how I get it from George i have an overall and simplistic idea of the state of the rounds and how they grow (or shrink)
Its a good way to visualize whats going on in simple terms and always gives me a boost.
As Richy says, life does get in the way sometimes but all the more reason to have something solid to refer back to which helps bring things back on track.
If you want a copy give me your email and i will send it over

Date
Residential Yearly Income
Number of Residential Customers
Commercial Yearly Income
Number of Commercial Customers
Total Yearly Income
Average per RESIDENTIAL Clean
Average Monthly Income
Total number of customers
Ave number of cleans per day (20 day month)
Total Residential Cleans per Year
Debt List Total £££
Debt as % of Ave Monthly Income

These are my KPI (key performance indicators) that I have filled out every Saturday morning for the last 3 years.

Get figures from George reports

Maybe OTT a little but tells me a lot and lately due to refining a hell of a lot its good to see how many less cleans Im doing now for the same amount of income.

If you want a copy of the spreadsheet minus my figures of course but with all the formulae in place then email me at h2owindowcleaning@hotmail.com and will send you a copy.

I keep a book in which I record data that I use for setting targets for each new year. Data includes how much I want to be earning, and how many customers I want by the end of the next accounting year.

I also record how many jobs I have done, how much I have earned, average weekly earnings, how many new customers I have picked up and how many I have in total, on a week to week basis.

It is very useful for identifying trends, such as when there are peak or dip periods, as well as average earnings per job, per week.
