Just found some anti freeze on window cleaning wharehouse that is added to your tank 1:250.

They claim this does notaffect your tds reading.

Just wondering if anyone has used this and is it any good?

it is IPA and yes it works and no it will not effect your TDS

but not sure on that dilution rate being correct

Their has been a few big debates about IPA on here over the years i think it does work but if you have for instance a 400 ltr tank you will need to add 2.5 ltrs or more .

So you would need to use 3-4 containers a week which equals £80 a week . Mike

I use IPA with my trolley it still froze but made a fantastic job of the cleaning.I use 200 ml per 15 liters.A waste of good cash.Buy a 1000 watt fish tank heater and leave 1 or 2  in you tank at night.I use one in a water butt and water was always worm.

A 1:250 dilution rate for IPA is 0.4%, which will have hardly any effect on the freezing point of water.

To get the water freezing point down to say -4°C it would take a 10% dilution which would mean 40litres of IPA in a 400litre tank!

If you were buying 40 litres from WCW it would cost you £172.32 (inc VAT).

So, it's cheaper to stay at home and wait for the weather to warm up when it's sub zero
